Beterbiev is a beast he beat the **** out of gvodzvyk who was a ****ing BEAST, very powerful good technique knows how to break you down very underrated.
I don't think that Beterbiev has a bad chin. But, he does often come in without angles leaving himself wide open to counters. Dienes nailed AB several times in the fight yesterday. If Dienes had any power whatsoever, AB could have been in a little trouble. If it had been Joe Smith hitting him with those, he would definitely be down if not out cold. I still favor AB over Smith based on the gulf in skill demonstrated in The Gvozdzyk fight. But, he will have to fight a hell of a lot better than he did yesterday. The sand is running out of the hourglass for AB to beat these top names.
not the least bit impressed by his skill, but his durability and strength could trouble all but the elite. i judge fighters from what i see, i know what a skilled fighter looks like and what he can do, and does, in certain situations, then i see what the record looks like, and how the guys on that record look like. hes entirely beatable, you just have to avoid getting hit by him like he allows you to hit him, cause hes gonna outlast you. as far as the quality of the division he competes in, im also not very impressed, bunch of incomplete fighters. but again, im not judging them on how they look against each other, im judging them on how they looked compared to what i see in elite fighters.
Agreed. He can be fun to watch, but he’s not an elite boxer. He has elite conditioning and an absolutely berserk work rate for 36 years old at his size. Good power and overwhelms with his pressure and conditioning. But his feet are sloppy, he’s leaky defensively and gets himself in terrible positions throwing awkward punches. But LHW is pretty weak right now. Personally I think Joe Smith will knock him out if they do end up fighting next and Smith has been badly outclassed by both Bivol and Barrera.
It depends how you look at this. He is IBF World Champion since end of 2017 th and after Gvozdyk fight also WBC World Champion. I He wasn't bad vs Gvozdyk and Gvozdyk was decent opponent for a title fight. He destroyed Stevenson and put him in hospital. Beterbiev destroyed Gvozdyk and he retired.
hyped or not hyped, he at least did not common thing: to sit on one title and beat bums to prolong this. He had IBF title and fight Gvozdyk vs Beterbiev might had not happened till today cos Gvozdyk had WBC title.
BB certainly looked like he is a sitting duck for any elite fighter with power. He is tough as nails and Saturday may have been more about ring rust than decline due to age. The covid long absences will have brutally aged many a fighter and we have seen examples of 2 recently that may have been badly impacted, Okolie's Polish opponent and Josh Warrington.
In the end everyone needs to understand that whenever we are talking about a very very dominant fighter during his amateur career, there will be a hype. Indeed, he is a good fighter, but his professional career has been poorly managed.
Beterbiev over trained - stop/start fight scheduling. He had a rib injury His covid was bad - he lost some significant mass If he rests properly and allows his body to heal - which it should in the better weather now and because of Ramadan - he can be out again in the summer.
Oleksandr Gvozdyk (you know, the guy that almost killed Stevenson) and Callum Johnson, both incredible talents. Do you follow anyone in the sport other than Canelo? Jesus.
