I looked back on Holyfield’s ama and he claimed that he would beat all of the top heavies and cruisers today. I’m a Holyfield fanboy but I strongly disagree. So how does Holyfield fare up against: AJ Wlad Vitali Fury Wilder Povetkin Usyk Okolie Gassiev
AJ: Pick em fight, I lean towards Evander Wlad: Loses a decision Vitali: Loses a decision Fury: Loses a decision Wilder: Wins by TKO in 6 Povetkin: Wins a wide decision Usyk: Wins a close decision Okolie: TKO win Gassiev: Wins by UD
In a career against these fighters this would almost be impossible, In single fantasy bouts I think he beats all of them.
That’s actually a very good point. Fighting all of them the attrition would eventually get to Holyfield and he’d pick up some L’s. Pretty much what actually happened in his stellar career too.
Like most of the HW champs he was an alpha male. Most champs think they could of beat everyone which is fine imo. That’s how they became champs to begin with
Maybe Ali. Although all of these men have differing styles I don’t really see a stylistic nightmare amongst them for Ali over an extended career. Ali had a unique ability to cope with many types (with Kenny Norton and Smoking Joe being the notable exceptions and he had his moments against them too) In consecutive fights then absolutely no one. That’s a pretty formidable list of fighters and I doubt anyone could back up against that many big men and varied skill sets.
