Yeah, I agree I probably do overrate him subconsciously, to overcompensate how underrated he is by the majority of this forum, especially from people like Choklab and Bummy who have a very odd obsession with him.

On some level. Roy always gives him hell though. I'm a Toney fan boy but Prime Roy is awful for him style wise.

Miguel Cotto. I had him as the best WW since Ray Leonard.

    GGG

At one point thought he was going to be the best MW since Hagler but then the Jacobs and Canelo fights happened, realised he wasn't all that, still a very good boxer/puncher but was never going to be an ATG or anything close to it.

Engels Pedroza. For 22 fights I thought that he was the goods and that Jimmy Montoya had his breakout fighter. But it was not to be.
His fight with Othal Dixon is a shootout to remember.

I actually think Johnson and Sanchez are under rated by most

As a teenager, I read the book: knockOUT by José Torres. After that, I thought for a while, that young Tyson (under Rooney's guidance) would be nearly unbeatable for every heavyweight boxer in history.
Later, I have changed my opinion.
But who knows, maybe he would be.
All in all, I think, that I tend to overrate boxers after reading a book about them.

I used to actually underrate Marciano about 45 years ago but talking to some very smart boxing people over the years and watching fights fighters and spending time with top boxing minds made me appreciate the special fighter Marciano was. I also appreciate fighters like Charles and Walcott. I used to overate the big undefeated fighters like Foreman and Lyle until I seen their weaknesses. I met Lyle in the dressing room before the Quarry fight and believed he would win by KO but he was lucky to survive the Quarry fight which turned in Quarry's favor when Jerry took his best shots and rocked Lyle, keeping Lyle honest.

I still rate Foreman high top 10 somewhere near the middle

I definitely do this. I often am extremely high on them after a binge watch or reading something new about them. When it dies down, I'll look back at them a few months later and I'll have a more grounded view of them.

I used to rate Ray Leanard to highly. His prime was pretty short- his lack of fights overall have slowly made me move him from number 2 of the Fab 4 - To last place.
