Klitschko by UD but in a 65/45 fight. In all honesty i can definitely see mercer destroying Klitschko as well

Shocking how many people were picking Mercer, the guy who got outboxed by Jesse Ferguson and 42 year old Larry Holmes.

Let's be honest, Mercer might beat early Wladdy, who gassed easily, but no version of Mercer would have any chance against Manny Steward Octopus Wladdy.

Exactly this. Mercer did as well as he was ever going to do against Wlad because that version of Wlad was trying to make a fight of it. He gave Mercer chances to land his own blows. Steward version would have kept Mercer at a kilometre's distance and hugged him like a squid if he ever got within sniffing range of getting his punches off. Mercer might actually make the distance against Safety Wlad but Wlad would be unmarked.

We are talking a long reigning multi belt world heavyweight champ versus a fringe contender right? Ok so he held the wbo belt very briefly when it meant nothing. I might go out on a limb and pick Wlad.

Wlad had far better foot movement than anybody Mercer beat and Mercer would be easy to hit with Wlad`s fast jab.

I guess Mercer was passed his best in 2002? LOL

even the Vlad that had not yet improve the skills with Emanual Stewart still absolutely beat the stuffing out of Mercer.....and this was not an old Mercer, either

Wlad is on a different level entirely

Barring an upset Wlad! Obviously. When you look at their careers in the round Vladimir is quite obviously the superior heavyweight. People pick Mercer because of what he did to Lewis, because he was a 90s HW & because Vlad had a shaky chin & was upset on occasion. They forget he was trained by one of the greatest trainers ever, completely turned his career around and went on to be one of the most dominant heavyweights champions ever.

I favor Wlad but cmon mercer was well past it. Its like saying Cooney would destroy a prime Ron Lyle. Its bullcrap. Lyle was clearly over the hill in that fight as well

In one of the weakest eras it’s worth pointing out. At least that’s my opinion.

Yes Mercer was "past" his best in 2002. I actually agree though that the best version of Wlad would have beaten the best version of Mercer. There's clear danger in a fight vs. Mercer but best vs. best............Wlad avoids trench warfare (Mercer's best chance) and wins.

Wow this shows how underrated Wlad was in 2010. People picked a bunch of B level fighters to easily KO him lol

It could happen if Wlad would choose to brawl with him instead of boxing.
