Could Ike Quartey have schooled Trinidad with his jab and set him up for a brutal KO?

Winky Wright literally stole Quartey’s style ....but he used it better

Thanks. Tito's biggest problem was he relied on setting his feet a little to much when he sat down on punches. The problem that Quartey presents is he was the type of guy that move folks backward with his jab.
Very true but Oscar also was a guy that was on his toes and would throw hooks off of pivoting. Tito liked to set his feet when he threw that hook and Ike usually performed well against those types because he would back them up. Wright did this to perfection against Tito. Then again, I see Winky as a bigger/Stronger and more skilled Quartey.

I agree 100% on all points. I think Quartey's defense was his offense a lot of the times. Sure his high guard was effective but his jab did so much to neutralize his opponents offense. He moved guys backwards and disrupted timing all the while he piled up points.

If you watch Ike in the Oscar fight you'll see he blocked slot of shots. While he is no Benitez his defence is on par with Titos.
Anthony Stephens put Felix in a bad spot and was close to stopping him.
That jab had the power of boxers right hands and it would have been a huge problem for Felix as he can get DROPPED by it.
Oba had a nice hook. Not as powerful as Felix but it was a good punch. Quarteys jab was too much for Oba.
Know who I think would have been a nightmare for Felix? Jose Luis Lopez who had a cement chin and could crack.

Winky Wright is the most underrated, underapperciated, robbed champion of all time. He was soooo slick. Buttttt tito fighting wright at 154 early 2000s idkkkk would have been beautiful to watch

Winky got robbed by vasquez in 94 for the 154 wba belt, robbed for ibf belt against vargas, robbed against hopkins. He only lost the last fights of his career after long layoffs and age

They both fought similar straight up behind a good jab. Tito had the hook Ike had the right hand but more of a jab. I think Tito would stop him, and was the better overall boxer puncher.

I think that Felix Tito Trinidad slips Ike Quartey's jab very nicely, and counters him with very hard right hands. Tito would put constant pressure, connecting to the body and head. The end comes in round 5, courtesy of a solid right hand by Felix.

He got robbed against Taylor, I'll have to rewatch the Hopkins I didn't think nobody got robbed in that fight but I was high on alcohol and marijuana at the time so I'll have to rewatch it

Quartey wins , it might be similar to Wright vs Tito, high guard and more power, I see Tito going down at least twice and losing a ud Quartey had lots of tools and great chin, no way Trinidad wins a decision

If Trinidad had a bad case of the flu it could happen

Jose Luis Lopez. He ate Quartey's jab for much of the fight but put Ike on the canvas multiple times. He ended up getting a draw.

Both fights i havent watched in mannny years. I rewatched vargas fight a few years back and when it happened fernando was one of my favs n i said he won the fight at the time but rewatching winky beat him. Not robbed tho. I'll have to rewatch vasquez i only remember him barely getting a KD not multiples if that happened it could be my winky wright bias lol bottom line winky most underrated
