Manny's a legend and is planets apart in terms of experience and is the more skillful fighter. But Ortiz is a big strong kid w/ frightening power. Pacquiao is also no slouch in the power department and he brings speed, angles, and awkwardness. Can Ortiz take multiple punches from Pacquiao? We know Pac's power puts guys in survival mode. Who wins and how?
pacquiao is 42 with two years of inactivity, the fact he managed to remain competitive into his late thirties is a testament to his dedication, but he is a fossil now. i doubt he could compete against ortiz or any of the top guys, there no meaningful fights for him and all he will get from fighting is more permanent damage.
Manny is too old and inactive to beat a hungry young power puncher like Ortiz and it would be too much of a high risk low reward fight for him at this stage because Ortiz doesn't have a belt. When you weigh up risk vs reward a fight against one of the other champs at 147 would be less of a risk with a much higher reward for Manny because E-Spence is a featherfist in comparison to a genuine power puncher like Ortiz and Crawford is a top 5 pound for pounder in many people's eyes.
good fight. i think pac outpoints him if he is still at his thurman level. but if hes lost any more of his legs, the kid wears him down.
Pacman is very well known name. He will be very expensive to book fight and I'm not sure that today Vergil might generate enough money. Pacman is well known name for decade + and will demand very high purse $.
naah. pac needs room to be pac, and vergil dont give you much of it. sure hes gonna look overmatched the first couple of rds, but he makes you fight his pace, whether you want to or not. there is no idle time, and thats gonna wear on pac by the midway point.
Pac's become an exceptional counter puncher in the twilight his career. He'd make Ortiz pay big time. Ortiz has been able to walk guys down, but none of have been punchers or particularly skilled. Herrera was a wily old fox, but was badly faded and had zero power. He wouldn't try that with Pac. Old Pac would dispatch of Herrera, Vargas, and Hooker sooner than Ortiz did. This ain't a diss, but Ortiz is still in that prospect/development phase.
I think Ortiz is potentially the real deal, I think we need to see him in with someone in the top 10 first before assuming he dominates a top 3/4 guy, especially one of the greatest specimens in history. How Pac performed against Thurman sold me that he is not quite in the rocking chair yet. Pac is old, and is eventually going to hit the wall............until then, I'll still give him the benefit of the doubt against a neophyte.
vergil is a big boy, and you saw what margo did to prime pac. this isnt prime pac, and although vergil might not be as big as margo, he is more complete and punches harder. vergil is also at that stage where you can expect him to look better than he did his last time out, while pac is the complete opposite. one is constantly getting polished, the other is tarnishing more and more each day.
Yeah and therefore he can't generate enough $ to book Pacman for fight. Even if he had 1 belt already. Pac will not fight vs them. They can't generate enough $ and Pac is expensive, very well known for long years fighter. Most likely Pac might agree to fight with someone enough well known for longer time. This will help generate $ for Pac's purse $.
Margarito was a seasoned veteran w/ a chin and durability for the ages. Margarito was willing to walk through brimstone and fire. We don't know how durable Ortiz is, but I can tell you that he's not surviving shots from Pac like the ones he was taking from Hooker.
He is young, most likely will improve. BTW I do not think that he will get fight vs Pac, at least during next 2 - 2 1/2 years no.
isnt little lucas the last guy pac stopped, and before that, cotto? seems youre rating vergils jaw way below a whole lot of people. ive never seen him more than momentarily affected by a punch, so i think vergils whiskers are solid. again, when was the last time pac rained fire and brimstone on anyone?
