Depends how you mean, controlled power with a good all round tactical aproach ? On the other hand basic skill set with massive power given the room to wined it up.

Wilder only punches hard with his windmill haymakers. Joshua's conventional boxing punches like his straight right are clearly stronger than Wilder's.

 

Big, fat, no. Say what you want about Wilder's boxing skill set, or lack thereof....but the power in his right hand is absolutely ridiculous.

 

Not even remotely true. Wilder throws the ridiculous haymakers when he has someone hurt. All of his 1-punch KO's are right down the pipe.

 

No. Wilder hits harder. Wilder's power is murderous despite the fact that he's skills are trash. But honestly maybe his power is overrated. The fact that Szpilka and Duhaupas took his shots that easily makes me wonder sometimes. But then again Wilder one shotting Breazeale keeps those thoughts in check. Maybe its the fact that Wilders right hand only becomes SUPER dangerous when he puts everything into them. But then again he floored Ortiz with an uppercut. But then again the man had a very shaky performance against Molina. Theres a lot of questions i have about his power.

 

Both carry a punch that can separate a fighter from their consciousness very quickly.

I would say that Wilder hits harder with that one punch, as basically he invested everything in it, and why not it served him well until Fury spoiled the party.

In the 1st fight Wilder originally hurt him in the 10th with a short counter right hand.

The rematch KO was a lead right hand right down the middle.

 

Joshua has a more powerful LH it seems.
Wilder more powerful RH, probably jab too.

All this 'technique, delivery' etc., it's all ambiguous. Wilder has natural speed and timing and he's landed impressive shots/counters on skilled and experienced fighters, so what does it all mean. Hitting targets in sport is more about natural ability than learned technique. Wilder basically stalks around with his RH cocked waiting to shoot when a head is in range and it works.

Wilder would have likely taken Joshua's head off in the old days. Joshua would have come forward and eaten a bomb. Just think of those RH's he touched Fury with in the early rounds of the rematch, would Joshua have evaded/rolled with those or been flattened?

 

Spilka took his shots easily? Dude, he was out cold for 5 minutes and left the ring on a stretcher.

 

I know this isn't new but AJ has what it seems like a low confidence in his game. Like the ko from Ruiz did something to him . Then he gets in his mode, a great offense with pristine shiny punches that can chop a tree down. Then at times he gets gassed and it seems like conditioning could be a factor. He was pretty unstoppable at his boringest. He set a slow pace, great distance, on the balls of his feet and boxed. I know it wasn't a master class (Ruiz) but he got the job done.

 

Wilders power is kind of fascinating. On the one hand he one shot ko'd a guy like Breazeale (who is usually very durable) in 2 minutes and on the other hand a guy like Szpilka went nearly 30 minutes with him. Same for Duhaupas who also went 11 rounds with Wilder but was stopped in 1 by Yoka and in 6 by Povetkin. Always tough to judge power. If one of these guys lands clean it's over anyway...
