Skys budget for boxings not great. The percentage of sky subscribers that are boxingfans is actually pretty low. Boxing,s been a niche sport for years.

It's irrelevant what he's been through. He lost his last fight by 5th round KO to an old guy. You'd make a better argument talking about what the Russian deserves.
In any sport, outside a few exceptional super-stars, the performers are paid according to their position. If a team drops out of the top league they make less money. If a tennis player gets blown out in the first round of a Grand Slam tournament they get less prize money.
    Boxing is far less rational.

Forget BBC and Channel 5, I just mentioned them because they pay even less than regular SKY. You seem to think regular SKY (which used to show top level world title boxing) isn't 'premium' enough for Whyte.

Are you his accountant or wife? Why do you care what he gets paid? No matter what he gets paid he wouldn’t be anywhere near a PPV just because he’s a fat heavyweight

Just seen the weigh in pictures, chubbiest Povetkin has looked in years. I don’t think the covid-ridden shell of Povetkin has done much training this camp.

Quite possibly one of the worst takes on here, straight from the match room playbook and utterly embarrassing.

So, if that's the case, what gives boxers the right to PPV money ?

On one hand you're saying boxing is more accesible, better marketed, etc.
On the other you're saying it's a niche sport that few sports fans really care about.

It seems all backwards to me. The huge purses should trickle down to Whyte-level fighters only in times when boxing was truly thriving as a mainstream sport, rather than Whyte being encourage to cash grab the huge purses and inflate his wealth by cynical PPV shows because boxing just isn't mainstream popular.

I've literally addressed that in the post you're responding to, which you've just completely ignored. You've been so indoctrinated and duped, that you're just parroting Hearnisms.

Why do people keep repeating this as if it is fact? That's something his team put out, there's absolutely no proof that Povetkin had covid-19. In fact, I highly doubt that he had it.

Lots of people had it so it's not unlikely.
He looks like he might have had it.
    He looks far less muscular.

That isn't in any way proof that he's had it.

He's nearly 42, is he not? He's coming to the end of his career either way. He's just come off a big knockout win and it wouldn't be unforeseen for a boxer to not train his bollocks off all things considered. He looked soft the first bout and looks softer now. That is to be expected, for a guy who has practically never looked lean.

I'm someone who would rather have evidence. Why the hell would I believe his team, sports media (who have sourced the information from his team) and anecdotal testimonies? Throughout the last year there has been countless athletes who have been asymptomatic and there have been lots of celebrities and what no taking photos of themselves on their hospital beds, even making videos. No such thing from the Povetkin camp. It's complete nonsense.

Compare the difference between the weigh ins for the first fight and today. The upper body muscle is noticeably less defined.

Povetkin has gained fat and probably lost muscle.

Clearly he can win the fight by KO but common sense says Whyte is going to box long behind the jab and ease to a stinker.

Its not mainstream. No money to be made. Therefore no one really pushes it.

Now make it ppv...people pay for it the guys that have been moaning about more access...better fights...fights more often. Which we are getting.

Then with that money you can try and make it mainstream by having big marketing budgets etc. Thats exactly whats going on.

Any other way and your stuck in the same position boxing fans have been moaning about for years.

Thats the reality of it. That twenty quids not just going in dillons back pocket. Its helping grow the sport. People only see the shortsighted aspect of it tho. Its gonna cost me twenty quid...no thanks.

Thats up to you...but dont complain about the lack of coverage when it goes back to the old days of waiting months for s half decent fight.

Povetkin has always been softer than a lot of heavyweights but look at his upper body in the first fight. He at least had definition in the shoulders and chest. He’s far puffier now and I acknowledge that the outdoor lighting may have had an impact but still.

why do you care so much if he had it or not?
Even the bold Eddie says he believes them?

many people have died and even more have been hospitalised with it.

had it myself a month ago and just getting back to feeling normal the last couple of days, actually having it wasn’t to bad but it totally wiped out my fitness, my legs didn’t feel like my own when trying to exercise
