Max Baer couldn't keep Carnera down with a sprained ankle after 10 knockdowns and Joe Louis couldn't either.

Unless it's a very cautious ref I really don't see Rocky being able to keep Carnera on the canvas.

People say"Well...it depends on which Baer shows up!" You knew that Marciano was ready...whether he was fighting a top contender... or not!!! You knew what you were gonna get from Marciano....Carnera?....yeah...OK!

Y'know Marciano's fighting Carnera, not Baer right? And Baer 'showed up' for Carnera, so nobody needs to guess which Baer shows up because it happened and the best version of him did.

Marciano would undoubtedly have some issues with the height, reach and strength advantage Carnera would have.

I don't see what evidence there is to pretend otherwise.

All I'm hearing are crickets from Rocky supporters so far.

I have posted clips, stats, and presented very logical arguments for why Carnera should not be written off.

So far all I've read is that Rocky is a cut above and would "find a way to win" and will always be in shape. You can say that about literally any boxer.

So you decided to give Carnera credit only to hate Marciano? Seriously...?

It would start off rough for Rocky. He would measure Carnera’s reach, trying to find openings to make his way inside. Carnera would use his nimble footwork and long reach to stay on the outside.

As the rounds go on, Rocky finds more and more opportunities to make his way inside with explosive body shots and looping overhand rights which would jar and shake Primo.

By the 10th round, they both stop. They hold their arms out. Primo grabs Rockys arms and spins around Zangief style obliterating every fan in the stadium with Rockys boulder like physique.

After they clear out the stadium they storm the Whitehouse, forcing the president to surrender. They then take over the world. And become the greatest conquerors of all time.

I really don’t see it any other way. And anyone pretending otherwise is clearly an overzealous modernista.

He thinks he set up the trap. Only to find himself in quicksand.

He’s playing checkers while Marciano and Carnera are playing 3D chess.

I hate Rocky so much I spent a week reading his biography, watched a 90 minute documentary about him, watched all his available fights on youtube, and have him in my top 10 h2h for men who are under 200 lbs and top 15 ATG.

Would like to get back on topic and give your thoughts on the matchup?

Fair point. Still don’t think he sees the final bell.

-Rocky got a black eye struggling for 8 rounds to get past the jab of a 2000 year old Joe Louis. Which round which you say Rocky manages to slip the jab of 85' reach Carnera? Has he ever managed to slip the jab of a man that size?

-68' reach Rocky is going to land "looping overhand rights" on a 6'5 opponent...? I must ask how you think this is feasible?

-The rest is unfunny nonsense that indicates you're too prideful and insecure to give a definite answer on who you think wins.

You made some good points and I agree that PC has all of the physical and stylistic advantages over RM. But...PC looks on video like an athlete trying to box. He doesn't look to have the natural instinct to fight. He reminds me of the big kid who has never had to fight because nobody bothered him because of his size, and when he does he fights like he doesn't want to hurt the smaller kids.

That would be the one advantage I'd give RM, I think winning the fight would be more important to him than to PC, but as you pointed out in your post, I don't know what RM could do to win? PC is bigger, stronger, more athletic, and RM has never shown that he could jab or slip his way inside and work against a huge fighter. From what I've seen he doesn't have the quickness/footwork/coordination/balance to get inside and work without having to reset himself and by then PC is either outside again or he could push RM back or clinch.

I'd give PC all of the advantages except desire. Desire means a lot, but desire might not be enough when giving up size, strength, athleticism, even quickness.
