Surprised Bellew hasn’t given Penfold credit for Whyte’s victory yet after the work he did with him in the first fight.

Good performance by Whyte who has best and deepest resume in terms of quality after AJ in the divison. I can't think of a fighter ever who had a better resume who hadn't world title shot.

The latest talk is that he will fight Trevor Byran in America in the summer forbthe WBA regular belt. which should be the easiest fight Whyte has had in years then attempt to make Wilder or Ruiz but both had ducked him in past.

Didn't watch the event live but who compared The Deluxe Pudding to Marvin f'n Hagler ????

You're right it was a cracking Saturday Fight Night card but an abomination of a PPV.

It's sad, not that long ago I knew who most of the British champs were but now apart from Joe Joyce and Craig Richards I haven't got a clue who any of them are. Used to be that title meant something and was defended regularly on Sky or terrestrial, seems a rare occurrence now for a British title champ to be well known to all but the most hardcore fans.

Adam Smith mentioned something along those lines. I'm trying to forget the whole event now, it's a rematch that never should have happened

He hasn’t had a world title shot because he’s turned down 3 eliminators and a fight for 3 belts. It’s not like boxing has just decided not to give Whyte a shot.

At this point I could see Joe Joyce vacating all of his titles at some point and him getting a vacant Commonwealth title shot against some enheralded Ghanaian or South African like Ebenezer Tetteh or Johnny Muller. He'd then have to fight someone like Demsey McKean or Simon Kean and get promptly sparked.

Exactly. He can act hard done by but he refused to jump through any hoops that the governing bodies gave. He held out for the Wilder fight and he really didn’t want Whyte so was able to drag it out as long as possible as well connected champions often can, but Whyte had plenty of opportunities to force their hand such as the Ortiz fight.

Only PPV and Nxtgen bollocks on now. No normal fight nights. People say one sided PPV cards are the **** and we should be glad for Hearn for them but I always say I’d well rather watch the type of stuff in a small hall that you alluded to there.

Just because a card sells loads of tickets in a stadium/big arena and people talk about it on social media it doesn’t mean it’s good for boxing. Very few understand this though.
