Because there would be people lining up to invest in it for one. Its also a well known fact...your looking at it from a hardcore boxing fan perspective. But we,re in the minority.

Go look at the percentage of what sky sports viewers want from sky sports. You,ll find a very small percentage actually want boxing hence why they stopped funding it so much.

Its a well known fact tho...i know that because all the investors started pulling out. Got to ask yourself why if what their selling is what a big market wanted.

Look up andrey ruplev...probably never heard of him right. Neither have i. Hes the 9th best tennis star in the world. Net worth of 6.6 million apparently.

Just picked him totally randomly btw.

You cant pay whyte 50 grand a fight at the top ten level and some random tennis player is making 6.6 million and expect your sport to flourish. All your doing is killing your own sport.

I'm not denying boxing is less popular than football, rugby, cricket etc. that's how it always has been but the argument is are fights like Whyte - Povetkin and Chisora - Usyk being put on PPV because that's the only way they can be funded or is it because promoters like Eddie at some point realised that there hundreds of thousands of fans stupid and gullible enough to be taken in by hype, fake hate and propaganda put out by a 24 hour news channel and willing to pay for fights that are not even close to being PPV worthy ???

Unless your his wife or accountant you shouldn’t care what he’s paid, if he agrees to fight then the money is good enough.
And stop trying to come up with ways for yourself to be mugged off

Look through the history of viewers on sky sports on boxing over the years mate. Your looking at for a pretty good fight 100,000 people watching it.

Bearing in mind sky sports viewers arent really wanting a lot of money spent on boxing....how much do you pay whyte and povetkin each to get that 100,000 viewers. Football on a sunday can get around 4 million viewers a sport sky sports viewers want money spent on.

Would you pay them a couple of hundred thousand each to get 100,000 viewers knowing that other sports the viewers do want can get a lot more viewers for a lot less money.

Think last night ended up doing around 250,000 viewers. But as you said thats with almost a 24 hour news channel promoting it. Eddie spends a lot of money promoting these events to get that 250,000 viewers. Someone should get on to eddie to ask him for a costing of just his expenses for a fight like last night because i bet it cost a wad contrary to what people believe.

Now ask sky sports to pay that on top of the money they,ve spent on all the fighters etc...then your talking over a million to get about 400,000 viewers on one show a sport that the viewers dont really want either. Plus they need to do it not as a one off. Wont be long when viewers start to ask why there spending 25 million a year on a sport they dont want to watch.

It cant be done is the reality.

Or we can sit on a forum continually moaning about ppv. Yeah no one pay for it. Then they,ll start putting them on for free.

Its a flawed argument. If no one pays for it they wont be made...its as simple as that. Dont know who the mug is the one that realises we,ve to fund the sport or the one thats laughing cause their happy watching nathan gorman on bt sports telling us hes in a grudge match.

Its a bit like your a fan of the sport but you hold the people that do the sport you love in so much disdain you dont care they get brain damage for 50 grand a pop around the highest level to save yourself 20 quid.

Just comes across like a bitter guy...di you enjoy boxing or not. Do you want to see decent level boxing or not?

Commercial breaks, advertising in the arena and boxing ring, ticket sales (not applicable now I know) and selling the rights to foreign broadcasters have been enough to fund fights from domestic to world level for decades. This is a fact. It is greed from both the promoters and fighters that is the cause of all this nothing else.

There isn't a fight Eddie could put on PPV that you wouldn't defend, the Josh Kelly fight from a few weeks back that was on regular Sky Sports if it had been put on PPV you'd have come up with excuses to justify that. It's actually all very strange and bizarre, unless you work for Matchroom which I suspect you don't then I'm at a loss as to what you're getting out of all this.

What do you mean if we don't pay then the fights won't be made? Are you Eddie Hearn?

Did you see last nights card? Campbell Hatton in a debut fight, Fabio Wardley was chief support FFS, these are not fights that should cost multi millions.

You are just parroting Hearn without any real thought, but what you don't seem to understand is.. the more Eddies fighters earn, the more Eddie earns.

So it's in Hearn interest to convince people like you that Whyte (who hasn't even fought for a European Title, hasn't fought for a world title (TRUE STORY) is worth MULTI MILLIONS PER FIGHT.

Hearn makes his market, Tell me where else fighters of Whytes ability and achievements are getting paid Multi Millions?

If this is the case that this is the market then other promoters would be paying similar level fighters the same money, that's the market right?

A market place is just that, but it isn't that, it's Eddies market place, he has created this bubble where all his fighters are paid far more than other fighters, he creates his pay scale and then just passes the cost on to fans and takes his chunky cut.

Your argument works for HUGE fights, sure, huge fights need to generate huge money but with respect Povetkin Vs Whyte isn't a HUGE fight and the card was complete gash and as fans we should complain, moan and boycott.

100% correct. Whyte flirted with American promoters until he realised how much a boxer of his level would be earning out there.

    EXACTLY.. superb point.

Whyte went around the world looking for another promoter but realised rather quickly he wouldn't be paid the same monies and went back to Hearn with his tail between his legs.

If eddie doesnt make the fights who will make these type of fights then. Who will come up for the cash for them?

People cant say what their saying then not come up with answers for it.

Yous all keep bringing eddie hearn up...its nothing to do with eddie hearn really. He just happens to be the current promoter in the hot seat atm. You could put mother teresa in the hot seat tho and the reality is...these fights dont make profit anymore. Therefore no one wants to invest in them.

Unfortunately we,ve all picked a sport that doesnt generate the kinds of money it should apart from the superstars. What we get is guys like dillian whyte fighting guys outside the top 50 waiting on a joshua pay day continually or you need to fund it to get dillian whyte fighting guys like chisora or povetkin or rivas consistantly. Thats the reality. You do have a choice tho...you can choose not to buy it.

But no ones funding dillian whyte v povetkin consistantly nowadays. Literally no one. We either pay for the fight if we want it...or it doesnt get made its ss simple as that really. If you want serious level boxing in consistantly you need to fund it. Thats not eddies fault. Hes just smart enough to see that.

Seriously comes across like you guys are just jealous of eddie and dillians success tbh.

What you arent getting is it could be anyone i m talking about lets say mother teresa in the hot seat...shes still needing to charge you if you want consistantly competetive fights.

We can moan on....or just dont buy the fight really.

But thats the predicament boxings in.

Anyone of you can have a go at promoting if its thats easy. Go try put on a povetkin v dillian type fight. See how possible it is on free to air. Even if their both doing it for 200,000 each.

Advertisers, ticket buyers, sponsors, Sky Sports subscribers and foreign rights broadcasters just as it's always been.

Anyway you didn't answer my question is there a fight Eddie could put on PPV that you wouldn't defend ??

I m not here to defend fights or that...i just wouldnt buy it if i dont think its worth it.

Again sponsors advertising rights doesnt generate amazing money for whyte v povetkin i would imagine. Your all telling me its a mediocre fight.

If Josh Kelly vs Avanesyan that was on regular Sky Sports a few weeks ago had been put on PPV would you have supported that decision ??
