He had 2 polls . Maidana won one and Khan the other. They chose Maidana as it was the more lucrative fight after he had recently beat Broner.
I think the first one was one by Maidana then the Khan fanboys, girls and other groupies flooded the 2nd poll. Khan was so desperate that Mayweather and Ellerbe perversely enjoyed awarding it to Maidana.
Khan, as fun as he is to watch and as much as I respect his speed and intent, is so reckless that Mayweather would have had about a dozen opportunities to hurt him just with his skillset as opposed to any great power at Welterweight, mid to late stoppage.

Guy wasted the prime of his career hoping to land a fight with Mayweather or Pacquiao. In doing so he missed out on interesting fights against Brook or Thurman. He didn’t even take b level fights like Berto or a Guerrero etc.. There is no interest especially after watching him quit against Crawford.
That is exactly what happened. Many people suspected that Khan was apart of Floyd’s plan all along which is why he took safe fights at WW against shot Callazo and Julio Diaz. Madaina had just went on an exciting run with Robert Garcia with 3 KOs against Lopez, Karass and Martinez and then topped it off by shutting down the Broner hype train. Khan won on Floyd poll, but ESPN and Ring put up their own polls with Maidana winning by a landslide. And rightfully so Mayweather vs Maidana I was one of the rare exciting fights of Floyd’s WW career.
He just needs to drop down in quality of opponents. dunno why he went up in weight, I think 140 is good.
Yes it’s a low bar but he did make one correct decision in marrying Faryal as she is his better half.
