Emanual Augustus one of the most talented and entertaining boxers never to win a title?

The absolute worst fight who belongs in the boxing hall of fame. IDGAF. Augustus was amazing.

 

History is full of Emanuel Augustuses. We know of but a few.

 

There weren't. He lost a ton.

 

One of my favorite fights...ever.

 

He wasn't amazing. He just wasn't a quitter. If you wanted a knockout, you had to knock him out. He didn't do the "gloves-over-the-face-and-fall-down-when-the-prospect-hits-your-gloves" move that most journeymen who fight everyone do.

I always respected him because he tried. In a sport where everyone doesn't do that, it can make a fighter - even a losing one - stand out.

But "amazing" is a massive overstatement. (LOL)

 

There's like 4 or 5 fights from that never fail to make me smile and love boxing. He had his nights.

 

He did.

 

Amazing means exciting and fun to watch.

 

I know someone that sparred with him. When Augustus found out that my friend was going to be sparring with Mayweather, Augustus took some time and taught him a few of the things he had done to disrupt Floyd's rhythm.
When my friend was in the ring with Mayweather and started using what Augustus had showed him, Floyd started laughing and said "why is that mofo out there telling my secrets."

 

Had I been a promoter I would NEVER make a match with Augustus and my fighter.

 

Easily one of the most amusing characters in boxing, with one of the most interesting styles.

 

I've always viewed Augustus as an overachiever not some mega talent that never was

 

Well he’s certainly one of the fighter who never won a title, so he’s got that part of the equation.

Tough out, willful, always brought what he had ... but I’d say there are more entertaining and talented fighters who never won a world belt of some sort.

 

Talented sure. Entertaining? No way in hell.
