Ali wins in one his toughest fantasy H2H matchups, by 1-3 rounds. I favor no fighter in history over the best Ali.
Not even close to a competitive fight, Marciano showed nothing throughout his career that would suggest he belongs in the ring with a prime Ali. Several of the men Ali destroyed would clear Marciano's paper-thin resume with ease. Ali by however he wants
Ali by stoppage, too fast and too good of movement, there's nothing to suggest Rocky would be stronger either as Ali would bully him in the clinches and would cut Marciano's face up, I'd go with Ali stopping Marciano due to taking too many punches around rounds 7-9.
Marciano remind me a lot of Frazier. Styles make fights, and Rocky, just like frazier, would have been a tough fight at any point in Ali’s career; But a prime muhammad ali with his peerless speed , could be a threat any heavyweight in any era. At the same time, Marciano, while he had more power, was slower and smaller than frazier, and he could be cut. Rocky just cannot catch him. Ali by points, or a TKO from cuts.
The people who say that this is a styles fight are right. Ali is greater than Marciano, but Marciano has the stylistic advantage, to narrow or even close that gap. This would be a good fight.
I would bet on Ali here. You have to. you can make a case that Marciano can match anything Frazier did..but Ali still beat Frazier two out of three times, the one time Frazier beat Ali, basically finished Frazier as a great fighter. when Great fighters meet, you can look at what each can tactically do. You can dissect the technical attributes and how they might apply with the styles..play it all out. And when you reach a point where you can make a good case for both it comes down to extra factors. well Ali had those extra factors. That bit of extra magic and talent that was probably only shared with a handful of fighters from history. Things Marciano with his shorter career could never have. These are the deciding factors when choosing overall who would win. Ali was just more special.
Ali by TKO within 11-13 rounds in one hell of a clash. Rocky would give a very good account of himself landing ferocious body shots and landing the occasional clubbing shots and right hands upstairs, but cannot deal with Ali's hand speed, footwork, and indomitable will power.
Anyone who thinks Ali would easily or comfortably win is wrong It would be an excellent fight but I say Ali gets the decision
***** Awaits the RockyJim book of answers ***** "Ali would have to fight 3 minutes of every round. Something he never did . No showboating or clowning etc etc etc." Ali beats him going away. It would resemble the Quarry fights.
I agree. Quarry was faster, more skilled, more durable, taller, and had a longer reach. Excellent point Chok!
