The Louis vs Lewis thread got me thinking.

What if Lewis had been born with an iron chin, or at least one good enough that he could only be stopped by a sustained beating?

    Would he ever have lost?

Would it have led to him adopting a less cautious style, that would have ended in some sort of loss anyway?

Does too much success inevitably end up leading to a loss?

    Your thoughts?

He would’ve been undefeated and probably a lot more exciting to watch

he would be as close to unbeatable as any fighter in history.
I still don't think he was fast enough to catch a prime muhammad ali and beat him though.

Well he would've gone undefeated in his resume, that's for sure but the likes of Ali and Holmes would still outpoint him IMO.

He still loses to Rahman in Africa. Lennox wasn't focused for that one and Rahman was giving him a steady beating before the KO.

Lewis chin wasn't so much the problem; his tendency to be complacent was the problem.

A better chin, whatever that really means, in regards to Lewis, doesn't prevent a lack of dedication to training or sharpen one's focus.

If he had an iron chin, the big ko shot would’ve just woke him up and rahman would get outclassed

He would have never got with Manny and not developed as much as he did, In some ways it may have hindered him.

I think it begs the questions, would his skills ever have developed as sharply and would he ever have ended up with Manny steward? If the answer to these questions is “yes” then I think he likely goes unbeaten. If the answer is “no” then there’s a good chance he may have lost to someone along the way, perhaps by a decision.

He might have got the KO himself. Rahman didnt exactly have an iron chin.

If Lewis was the same guy with the same chin and he only foughted the lowerest level guys like Holyfied and Vitali, but not the upper Escheling dudes like Rahman and McCall, he defo woulda gone undefeated forever and ever.

No he would have lost to Randy "Tex" Cobb who suddenly was born with Ali like speed and Liston like power. Cobb wins.
Or by Chuvalo who was born with Johnson like diffensive skills & Dempsey like ferocity. Chuvalo victory.
