Louis was pretty big though. beside Foreman and Ali and Norton Joe Louis looked the same size in retirement. I don’t know how tall they were all officially listed as but they looked similar in height. I saw Lewis beside Glenn mccrory and there wasn’t much difference. safe to say Marciano would look as Tiny as Tyson did beside Lennox
Lol. Tiny But Iron Mike! And yes, Louis had impressive shoulders, arms. His back had both width and thickness, a big formidable man. And WHAT a great fighter.
Marciano's detractor's can never see the elephant in the room. They have this victim complex, as if Marciano's proponents were constantly pumping out pro Marciano propaganda, but they are the ones starting all the threads! The delusional Marciano apologists, are generally sitting in the corner of the room minding their own business, when hell fire is rained down upon them. Then they are treated as being unreasonable, for responding to it!
Seems consistent with Joe Louis's description: Between Rounds by WJ McGoogan, St. Louis Post-Dispatch, April 1, 1953 “Joe Louis and Jim Braddock, continuing their discussion of the forthcoming heavyweight title bout between Jersey Joe Walcott and Rocky Marciano, have this to say: Louis—‘Marciano was a crude, inexperienced fighter when I fought him. He was easy to hit and awkward. He knocked me out because I had nothing to hit him with. He was a vastly improved fighter when he fought Walcott. … They used to say Marciano was nothing but a rough puncher. I met a lot of nothings like Tony Galento, Buddy Baer, Tami Mauriello and, of course, Marciano. I was a lot luckier with the first three in that I was able to get up off the deck.”
When Marciano fanatics, who crossover little with boxing fanatics, contend that Rocky would decisively beat a Lewis and Klitschko because he had handled Louis, who they claim at 6 1 1/2 and 213 was a superheavy, who further claim that he was still in fine form, tho contemporaries say he was not, then the reasonable among us feel that a mild rebuttal is due, if only in the form of popular contemporary opinion.
It’s kind of the tactics we see within the young activists today isn’t it? To disagree with their proclamation is to be be a hater. I am hoping they all grow up and become more tolerant toward those of us who merely respond.
1. This scenario that you are describing probably never happened. 2. If it did, it was probably a response to something that you, or one of your ilk posted. 3. You and your ilk were the ones staring the threads. If Marciano has a fanatical band of supporters, you only have yourselves to blame for it. You are the real fanatics!
Another observation should be made. These Marciano fanatics, don't create multiple threads, attacking some modern fighter who is an assumed rallying point for the other side. For the most part they treat guys like Lewis and Klitschko with respect. Perhaps there is a lesson to be learned there?
lol seriously? They consider the thought that Marciano might struggle in later eras, an attack on him.
