I wish him all the best in whatever he decides to do, he has certainly earnt it.

A great fighter, went on a little too long for my liking, and hate to see them go out like that on a loss.

But saying that, he went out at the highest level.

Kids dream of fighting for a world title, but to win one or two is amazing and he did it, and i for one can not or would not fault his achievements.
Hope he sticks with his retirement plans, i would hate to see him back in a ring again.

 

I’ll never forget the image of him getting up after that uppercut an still throwing leather. Credit to the sport and a true fighting man. British boxing hall of famer for sure. Going to a be a bleak few years ahead for us British fans. The golden generation wel and truly finished

 

Well I'm still gutted for him, but what a fighter Carl Frampton has been. He can enjoy his retirement in the knowledge that he has been Northern Ireland's finest and one of Britain's finest as well. He's been my favourite fighter from the start and whilst I'm sorry to see him bow out, it's the right time.

I've been sure since the change to Moore which was clearly a "jobs for the boys" type scenario rather than the most professional decision, that the decline had begun. The talk of retirement, cutting sparring down, not enjoying being away from wife and kids etc (obviously that'll be true of most fighters but he talked about it constantly in recent years) was indicative of a clear loss of the fire in his belly and the loss to Warrington, where the tactics were awful (again, not helping my opinion of Moore) and he was well beaten, sort of confirmed it. He deserved his shot last night at making further history, but it wasn't to be.

I've said a lot of seemingly negative stuff there but ultimately, I've loved following his career, he's a legend of his country and deserves all that a healthy retirement will hopefully bring to him. Thanks for the memories Carl!

Ridiculous post. How are Gallagher’s tactics anything to do with his resume? He definitely didn’t lose to LSC twice either. Galahad wasn’t a top operator (is he now?) when Frampton was. I agree he ducked Rigo but he has a record littered with very good wins, Kiko twice, Molitor and Donaire (who went on to almost beat P4P star Inoue.) If you don’t like him just say.

 

Apologies for my absence for this one. I was banned for a joke in the lounge which upset a former mod. A few points about Framptons performance. Firstly, he never was the same once he left 122 and Shane mcguigan. Frampton is too small, with too short a reach, and has the wrong style, too low a workrate, to cope with bigger men. That was glaringly obvious from the start. Once he moved up even to 126 he was doomed. I think it's unfair to blame Jamie Moore for having deficiencies as a trainer. Once Frampton himself decided to quit making the effort needed to make 122 the end was near. Moore couldn't force him. But Moore must have been less than totally honest with Carl, because a blind man could see Carl was not in shape, not sharp, totally flat from the first bell etc. The detioration from 5 years ago has been massive, too big to be missed. The people close to Carl should have been more honest with him over the last few years. He's been poor, very poor, a shadow of his best for a long time now. How could Carl and Moore have gone into that fight with Carl so blatantly unprepared? Was Carl deluded? Was Jamie afraid to open his mouth?
Imagine if he'd won. He'd probably have taken a big money fight with one of the stars of the division. If that's what the very limited herring did to him can you imagine Oscar Valdez or Shakur Stevenson beating on him?
Retirement was the only option after that performance. Fantastic career, great guy. Wishing him all the best.

 

Was gutted for Frampton on the weekend especially having been a fan and been in the arena on a few of his best nights.

That said, he was stepping up in weight again whilst not getting an younger and chasing greatness to become a 3 weight world champion.

It didn't work out for him but what a fantastic career. Best of luck to him in retirement.

 

The little man was never the same after the first LSC fight and was finished by the end of the Warrington fight.

Great career and hopefully we see more of him on BT Sports as part of the commentary team.
