Well, to sell half alive post covid 41 years 6 months old povetkin for us to watch? Better he had sold Whyte vs Chisora. Or for interest matched up post covid Pov vs Chisora.
So Eddie Hearn is responsible for the covid pandemic? Did he give Povektin covid in order to sabotage him? Povetkin has his own mind, his own team and has to pass medicals before stepping in the ring, I'm really struggling to understand how it's Eddie's fault? If Povetkin and his team say he is fit to fight and the doctors agree should Eddie go in to his camp and go see for himself? And to cap it off, you would have matched post covid povetkin vs chisora? hypocrite!
Go on then I’ll bite. I presume you mean Joshua and Canelo. Joshua is debatable and Canelo is on a short term deal. He doesn’t have the most lucrative TV deal in boxing. He hasn’t killed off PPV in America. Women’s boxing isn’t popular. It’s dreadful. Nobody outside of the Matchroom hardcore gives 2 hoots about it.
It's not debatable, AJ is the second biggest global star in boxing. He has huge endorsement deals, draws large crowds and TV figures and Canelo whilst on a short term contract has expressed a desire to continue working with Eddie. Eddie's deal with DAZN trumps PBC's deal with fox. so yea, its the most lucrative. katie Taylor's last fight was watched live by more than 2 million people. 'Nuff said. I will concede it still exists but it is on life support with Dazn and espn opting to bin off ppv.
'There will be around three or four offers presented to both camps this weekend and then it's over to them and the teams to discuss which one we want to take,' It'd be interesting to hear Arum and Warren on this. It's almost like he's throwing them under the bus not sure if it's a wise move for future business endeavours.
It's only a couple of months since Hearn said that Josh Warrington was having a unification with a guy who wasn't a champion. He just loves the sound of his own voice.
It's on Fury and/ or Arum. AJ reportedly took a pay cut for the Pulev considering the pandemic circumstances. I can't see why Fury couldn't do the same amd take a pay cut to keep active. It does seem Hearn and AJ are more keen to make this fight than the other side. Fury is just on a wind up or he doesnt fancy fighting AJ being this inative (but thats his fault for not fighting in December, Takam said the deal was all but done).
And 8 months since Hearn said an announcement was days away. Just loves doing interviews and being in the headlines. 'Eddie Hearn says.'
We can’t say that for sure as we’ve only really heard Hearn’s side (which obviously will be favourable to his asset). Hearn is great with the media and his narrative is already becoming the accepted one as he’s stolen a march on the others. Warren and Arum are dinosaurs and have no idea how to set the agenda so effectively. Seeing as they’ve both ‘signed’ I’m not sure how you can say they’re ‘more keen’ either - that’s just a tacit implication from Hearn’s own narrative that people are accepting. I think it’s fair to say greed and ego - probably from both sides - are at play here. It’s also possible that all this nonsense is to build hype for the announcement this weekend. These promoters know how to get people talking.. look how this thread has made a comeback in the last few days.
If I'm being manipulated into thinking the fight's not happening and then it gets announced in the next couple of days, I'm happy to be reeled in like a sucker for that old ruse !
Wishful thinking perhaps but I’m still optimistic. Casuals absolutely love a ‘X is “ducking” Y’ narrative. A few sound bytes from Hearn, a Michael Benson tweet or two and it soon gains traction and gets people talking. I’d be amazed if they couldn’t find the money for this fight - it’s the biggest possible fight in world boxing.
