Vlasov was small cruiserweight, his career had been impacted cos he had Glowacki in WBSS2 tournament. dirtyboxe contest he then lost but pre covid Glowacki usually was 197-197,5-1980198,5 lbs at weight ins and probably 200-202 lbs in the ring ( vs cunningham he was 202 lbs ).
I think Smith will won this one.

You expect me to believe everyone who uses covid as an excuse is this medically informed? Not to mention most of the people using it as an excuse now we're basically calling it a hoax 12 months ago. Don't waste your time trying to argue about hypocrisy with me your barking up the wrong tree junior

It's pretty surface level. Athletes are often impacted more by this kind of stuff - not a whole lot of nuance to that. You have some chip on your shoulder here with virtually every single post you make and never contribute anything of substance. Try enjoying the sport for once without having some lame agenda. It's pretty sad dude.

I reckon most professional athletes who have caught COVID don't even notice they have it unless they are being tested on the regular.

I'm taking Valsov by decision in this one. I just simply think he is the more complete guy. The strengh that Smith brings to the table is his strength and power but I have already seen Valsov in with Glowacki and think he can handle it. I'm not sure that Covid is going to be a factor like some are saying. Multiple guys from my gym have had Covid and are back to training full speed without any setbacks. I would think if something was bothering Valsov he wouldn't be taking the fight.

For sure you most likely do not know even rules and laws in countries and travel restrictions.

In a lot of countries if you have positive covid test, you are not allowed to use gym for 10 or 14 days and this I think normally will impact your carrer in depth even if you do not feel covid.
Also travel laws, like with positive covid you can't use airlines for example.

Quarantine and self isolation for ppl arriving from aboard : time limits.
This does impact and had impacted even abilities to get sparring partners from aboard.

Not alone if you feel this covid, then you will feel what this is.

It might be advisable for Joe Smith Jr to go to the body. Timestamped.

I'm assuming English isn't your first language so I think what I posted might have been lost in translation? I'm not saying Covid is no big deal, I'm saying that I don't think it is going to be much of a factor in this fight. I know plenty of fighters that had it and after a few weeks of recovery they were back to training at full speed. I have to assume that he wouldn't be taking this fight if he was having any lingering issues and was anything less than 100%. He is 34 years old with a lengthy pro and amateur career and has only lost to world class fighter's. He knows his body better than we do.

This is going to be an excellent fighter between a big punching banger in Smith and a solid technician in Valsov.

That was a great body shot! I'm actually more impressed that he got up from it to win the fight.

I'm assuming that you are not frequent gym user, not alone fighter and therefore you don't know what stuff is not to be able use gym for 10 or 14 days alone.
Not to talk about how easy to get sparring partners etc during this covid era.

Lost in translation mainly is thing that you did not had used gym on daily basis. Most likely.
If you did, you knew what difference is interrupt in training cycles.

Alright, I gave you the benefit of the doubt because English isn't your first language but now you are being a condescending dick. I do train regularly and I do understand that he clearly had his training interrupted by Covid. Not that it matters but I don't compete anymore because I am 45 ****ing years old but I have worked with MMA fighters that have been unable to train due to being quarantined. They have all bounced back. Sorry buddy, but you are not going to be able to educate me about anything related to the sport. I have been involved in it my whole life as both a competitor and a fan.

If Smith wins, which he is favored it will be because of his power and Strength. If Valsov wins it will because he was able to handle that power and strength with his skill and ability. We shall see.

Of course they had bounced back if they were not ill.

The problem is that to bounce back takes time and quarantine period too takes time.
During this time others bounce forward :)while another fighter does needs time for quarantine :(and time to bounce back. ;)

I'm not sure that Smith is lesser skilled than Vlasov, this we too will see in real life.

I do not prefer to work with fighters, too much lads had fights cancelled due this shitty covid in 2020 th and a lot of deals for fighters had failed cos $, there too much variables in the game.
I really had dropped this cos if they does not fight, I can't get anything.
Small shows are ****ed up and a lot of them had been cancelled, some better fights due to $ or other side did not had agreed.

I really for business had now other preferences than to deal with fighters. For example to deal with bodybuilders. Plain and simple: hire coach and specialists and rent them place.
For fighter I should get fights to get from them $ because I'm not coach or trainer. If a pro boxer doesn't have fight, I can't get from him any bare thing.

Maybe even soccer players and basketball players are more preferable clients: at least year contract with fixed sum, minimal payments, bonuses, payments schedule and so on.
Fighter's income a lot depends from fights they are able to get, not alone their ranking and how well known they are.
Also too much variables in this game.

Don't generalize because YOU KNOW fighters who bounced back quickly. There are a lot of Pro MMA athletes who really struggled with Covid and the aftermath. Some couldn't train properly for 2 months. As usually in life you have always two sides.

And you're also missing some other factors like the weight cut and such things, or the impact on your cardio/stamina and other stuff.

There are a lot of examples how Covid most likely ****ed up a fight for Pro athletes in combat sports. Of course there are also cases where it had no impact but saying it doesn't matter for this fight here is like saying "It will rain in 51233 days from now". You just don't know it.

You're really acting like a smart aleck in here...don't be like that. You know **** about how Covid impacted Vlasovs prep and camp. So do I. And all other people out there who are not related to Maxim and his team.
