Wow, I forgot just how bad AJ looked in that fight. Quite frankly, neither man looked like championship caliber in that fight. As bad as Wilder is, he actually might knock out Joshua if they fought. And, Fury will likely wear him out due to superior footwork and conditioning.

I think Ruiz might just shade Tyson in handspeed; he doesn't hit nearly as hard though

    Ruiz's power is overrated.
He has heavy hands but I've seen washed-up fighters and journeyman take his shots and go 10 rounds with him, on more than one occassion.

He has impressive hand-speed for such an out-of-shape fat slob, kind of like Tubbs did.
He might be comparable in speed to Mike Tyson in a two-punch combination, but Tyson had four or five punches coming at the same rate.

AJ picked up on Ruiz`s timing and moved and landed that`s good fundamentals not speed, you can see AJ`s punches weren`t quicker doesn`t mean he wan`t more skilled, he out-boxed Ruiz in the rematch despite have to use a ton of movement in a boring fight.

I don`t think Fury could stop Ruiz, if Fury sat on his shots he`d get countered, needs to stay on his bike and use his reach and height like AJ did except while displaying superior reflexes.

Fair point but Louis used to finish fighters with fast devastating hooking combo`s too.

I suppose if I have to br
Opposite impression. I feel Ruiz is the more skilled, even smarter fighter, but Joshua in addition to his size advantage is a superior athlete.

I saw Ruiz beat Joshua with grit and aggression in the first bout, which unfortunately, such victories are hard to repeat. Ruiz has skills but because of the numerous physical disadvantages just isn't gonna outbox AJ.

If this helps, I'd say the fastest hands I've seen at HW in no order:

    Wlad
    Louis
    Tyson
    Ali
    Dokes
    Holmes
    Patterson
    Walcott

    Of the current crop:
    Parker..

I believe Evander Holyfield said that Michael Dokes had the fastest handspeed of any heavyweight that he fought in his career which is remarkable since Dokes was considered past his best when he met Holyfield having spent almost three years out of the ring due to drug addiction issues before making a comeback.

AJ found it impossible to predict when Ruiz`s shots were coming, he didn`t slip any and struggled to block them, the only way he couuld avoid being hit was to use a ton of movement and a low punch out-put so thee would be less chances for Ruiz to counter.

Dempsy was not as fast as any of the guys you mentioned.
Holmes was fast, but not "superfast".
Ali & Patterson were the fastest, Tyson not too far behind.

All the people who saw the great heavies from Jack-Mike say he was. So gotta take their historical opinion of who they saw LIVE over your nuthugging, teabagging praise of Tyson.

OK dude, I see you being vicious to others.
I give you a single chance to be decent before I report you.
Because acting like this brings down the whole forum.
Verbal abuse from a safe distance is immature & very sad.

Others sometimes may let themselves get sucked into babyish personal insutls-not me.
It is disturbing that you throw out sexualized insults related to Tyson.
Also irrational-where do you see-in any of my comments-that I am even particularly a fan of Tyson?
You have no idea. You just throw out sterotypical words.
Also I did not single out Tyson as the fastest-that is your obsession.
I said Patterson & Ali had the fastest HW hands. Dokes was close.

Now then, a chance for you to begin civilized debate...
Please show me the specific evidence of who said what claiming Dempsey was the fastest HW.
This shoul be EASY, since you claim so many folks said that-show me a few hyperlinks.

Cannot do so, only find claims that he was the best from some old timers?
Or show me film that supports that.

Dempsey was fast, but if you have no actual evidence that he was the fastest...
Consider that you are projecting upon others the extreme bias (psychological over-identification with a fighter you glomed unto).that *you* possess.

Gets tiring having the make believe super Tyson shoved down the throat by his fanatical fans. As for Dempsey read and you will learn. Holmes was superfast. Ali was faster than Pat.
