How do people think that fury wanted to get out of the fight?

I disagree with this statement, just because Fury has done exactly that before, remember?

Except there was no actual boxing in the case of Joshua-Wilder, because Hearn negotiated Joshua out of the fight yeah. Wilder went the Fury route because Hearn was trying to tie him to a multi-fight deal with DAZN when he already had a TV network deal and a promoter yeah. He wanted a fight with Anthony Joshua, not a third-rate toiler like Dillian Whyye yeah.

Ergo, it's relevant to scrutinize Joshua's reluctance to engage in a confrontation with Wilder. If it's just some WWE pantomime, why the big deal, why so touchy? Didn't want to be backed into a corner in front of tens of thousands at the gate, hundreds of thousands more on Box Office and millions more on YouTube, Facebook, et cetera yeah? Ahhhh.

    What part of
does that article contradict? The link you provided thoroughly supports my statement.

    And Joshua very much was quoted as having said these words;

"You don't dictate to me that you're getting in my ring."

So, your argument is that Joshua is spared the ignominy of his refusal to engage in an unrehearsed confrontation with Deontay Wilder because, according to the forked tongue of Hearn, he and Eddie were planning for a more smoochy, mutually complimentary, mutually asskissing get-together (like the one I referred to a few posts ago). Barry's boy is quite a hypnotist.

Meanwhile, the rest of the fighting world is perfectly comfortable with ye olde tradition of getting up in the ring with that universal, time-honored demand, "Let's get it on!" No hang-ups or nonsense.

In 2016 he was fat, was seen drinking, was skipping training to go to raves, was making bizarre interviews where he seemed to despise the idea of boxing, was becoming increasingly distant from his trainer, had no powerful promoter behind him, was under investigation for PEDs, was hated by the British media, was doing cocaine .......

....... in 2021, the signs are that he's fit and training hard and is a completely different person.
He might still have problems and flaws but there's no sign of him being back in his 2016 state.

Still, although circumstances are quite different, it shows that he's not above pretending to want something while he has no intention to go trough with it.

Not saying he will do it again, but with Fury you never know for sure.

He'd be an idiot to never fight AJ.
    It's a huge payday.

Haha love it, fighters jumping in the ring and calling other fighters out like it’s some sort of ultimate bravery. It’s a nonsense to gain publicity for a fighter/fight. If you think any professional boxer on the planet is afraid of being “called out” in the ring after they have fought someone else then I don’t think boxing’s for you.

For what it’s worth you seem to not really be fact checking your soap opera script either.

“Hearn was trying to tie him to a multi-fight deal with DAZN when he already had a TV network deal and a promoter yeah” - The reason he rejected the 2/3 fight offer from DAZN is that he wanted to be a free agent. He was literally boasting that he didn’t have to fight on a particular network or under a particular promoter.

You fan boys make me laugh, it’s like you have a personal connection with your favourite fighter. You don’t, in reality they don’t give a f*** about you.

Aj doesn't stand a chance. Bum Joshua is already quaking in his boots at the thought of facing our Gypsy Lord. I feel sorry for any human being who has to step in the ring with the monster known as Tyson Fury. 6'9, 280lb of pure inside fightingness and an iron chin capable of eating Wilder's best shots.

There's no where for Eddie Hearn to hide. He knows his cash cow is doomed. He's been stalling because he doesn't want the fight but he knows it's only delaying the inevitable. Tyson Fury it coming for Aj and nothing can stop him

Ruiz already ate then regurgitated him, Fury will swallow him whole and digest him

Snip. I try to make it a rule to only give people who completely miss the point one more chance to grasp it. Sometimes they may get a third chance—but you're **** out of luck today, fella. Renovations a-callin'.

Well I enjoyed your little story anyway. Can’t say I’ll lose any sleep over not getting my “third chance” though.

And, good luck with the “renovations” yeah!

The article clearly said a lot more than that one quote, but lets put that to one side for a moment.

Come on now, you can't really expect me to believe had Wilder been on the Sky Sports commentary team they would have stopped him approaching the ring/calling out Joshua?

    Ridiculous.

Let's say we believe Wilder when he says that Joshua would have had extra security to stop him.
How do you think that was going to play out in a world where everyone carries smartphones with video cameras?

Imagine the scene, had he gone and security tried to stop him - it would have been all over the media!
And a brilliant result for Wilder's brand.

Ergo, there was nothing stopping Wilder going as part of the commentary team (or even just being sat ring side) and getting involved if he had wanted it

Wilder should have gone. He chose not to.

Massive egos was what got in the way. On both sides

hmmm...don't recall Fury fighting Earnie Shavers. But I do tend to not be surprised by such behavior from Fury...he just seems to refuse to stay active and fight top guys on any kind of consistent plane. His one big win ain't giving him significant ATG status to anyone but sycophants and kids new to boxing. He needs to do more, period. Look at the reigns of Holmes, Tyson, Louis. Just my opinion.
