Nelson boldly proclaiming that Benn would beat Porter is a bit OTT IMO. Porter would take Benn to places he's not ready for, very tough, unusual style that requires experience to figure out IMO. Porter would never entertain that fight anyway just now.

Broner was infuriatingly poor in February but that is a risky fight. Broner is a sharpshooter with deceptive power - remember he flattened Porter in the final round of their fight. When Broner lets his hands go he's really good. And even on the backfoot with little output he is an accurate, fast counterpuncher who would probably catch Benn at some stage. Again, no chance Broner entertains that fight.

I previously said I'd back Khan to beat Benn but not sure now since he's been so inactive. I don't want to see that tbh because Khan is not a serious boxer anymore.

Best fight IMO is Benn v Brook. Brook would probably take it for another payday, Hearn would definitely try to make it PPV which will just increase the appeal for Brook. And Brook would have a point to prove. Again I think it's a dangerous fight for Benn. A sharp, accurate, experienced and powerful counterpuncher is very dangerous for Benn. Only question there is probably whether Brook can do welter again.

    Typical Nelson/Sky boak-inducing OTT punditry.

Yeah Nelson going OTT with praise for Conor.

Yes Benn may potentially beat a past it Khan. I'd back him also to beat Broner? But Porter? No, no way far too soon to put him with a top 3 guy. Let conor fight 2 top 15 and top 10 guys before that.

They'll target Ava for the European or Broner if they can, Broner doesn't have anywhere near the output so good matchup.

That's a great fight also. Very dangerous though with not as much reward given DA is not a huge name here.

I'd like to see Benn in next with Kavaliauskas or Jessie Vargas

Amir looked soft in the little I saw of his reality show. He's not living the life anymore so might be easy prey for a young, hungry fighter training like an animal.

Teofimo Lopez, just beat a faaaaaar more skilled 2 time Olympian in Lomachenko, Marshall beat Shields in 2012, the same years she won her first Gold Medal. Yeah.... it makes perfect sense.

The Amir Khan who beat Phil Lo Greco would still be too much for Benn IMO. But as you said he's been too inactive, and in any event Khan's ego would probably rule out any fight.

Would love to see the build up for Benn vs Broner.

Broner would need to be paid a massive amount though, can't see it myself.

Someone like a Chris Kongo, or Chris Jenkins are good British fights, very logical next steps for Conor Benn. Any talk of a top 10 world level fighter is ridiculous for someone who hasn't even fought for the British yet. Welter is a very deep division, no one's going anywhere so there's no rush for the 24 year old Benn.

If Vargas took a count I believe he would still be in there now.

In the second round of the Khan fight something similar happened, Khan overwhelmed Vargas with a rapid flurry of punches and he went down. Benn had Vargas closer to the ropes and the ropes kept him up, forcing the ref to react.

Taking nothing away from Benn that was the performance of his career but I think the result flatters him.

As long as they keep him away from punchers, Benn will be manoeuvred into a PPV fighter by the end of year. He could potentially outwork someone like Broner, and knock out the likes of Khan or Brook in PPV fights.

Avanesyan would actually be the real test to see what level he is really at, but I cannot see that match being made.

Plenty of active welterweights in the Matchroom stable for Benn to fight. Avanesyan, Yelussinov etc.

How do you know he wouldn't beat Porter?

Potentially some nice PPV loot for Josh Taylor next year.
