Which other boxers have you seen who have made such a rapid improvement like Conor Benn has?

Yep, this effectively sums it up.

He's clearly working his bollocks off in the gym.

    Respect the graft

It surprises me how carried away some people are getting, maybe I am being cynical but I see that win last night very differently.

Vargas was there to hit, and there to get beat and fall over, which he duly did.

He was very much in opponent mode. Never threw a punch, never tried to buy himself time, never even tried to survive. 40 seconds in, and he doesn't try to hold, doesn't try to counter when Benn is open? As soon as he got hurt he went to the ropes and stayed there waiting for the ref to stop it. No one finds that even slightly suspicious?

I don't buy Been being some huge puncher. He is improved, no doubt. His jab looked decent against Formella. His speed is very good. He looks much more fluid and composed than before. I still think he is way short of world level, and am not convinced by him fighting and winning at that sort of level. He has been impeccably matched, avoided any and all domestic challengers and is being carefully 'groomed' for PPV.

It was also surprising to see the names he called out, as I think almost none of them would fight him IMO.

-Khan: No chance, doesn't need the money, has other avenues to go down outside of boxing, his ego won't let him take the risk of losing to a young novice.

-Brook: Will never take the fight, can't fight at 147 anymore, a hard sell as Brook really is (sadly) finished.

    -Broner: never going to happen

Porter would fight him I think, and beat him comfortably. I'm amazed that is being entertained.

I think they should try to make the Josh Kelly fight next it's obviously the best fight out there at the moment. Big fight domestically, good money for both, at exactly the right level for Connor.

Avanesyan is the fight to make, if he comes through that they'd he's legit.

I always thought Kelly would beat Benn but I don't think so now, that's the fight they'll make I predict.

    100 % This.

Imagine if Frankie Gavin and Kevin Mitchell had dedicated themselves to the sport and lived the life like Conor and Eubank Jnr have. I have no doubt that they would have both been multi time World Champion's but they also would have achieved the same level of financial rewards and security.

The fact Woodhouse run Frankie Gavin to a close decision and Ricky Burns stopped Mitchell highlight how hardwork can catch up to and can eventually surpass talent, if the talent lets their standards slip or take their talent for granted.

He's improved for sure but he still has a way to go IMO.

    It is highly suspicious.
People watching boxing seem to lap up anything these days. I've been following this sport since the 1980s and it was always a bit fishy.
But people back then didn't accept it uncritically.
Nowadays, too many fans and media just seem to accept what the promoters want them to accept.

makes me want to quit all this, and start watching professional wrestling instead.

I actually think he is pretty close to approaching the level where he plateaus and is as good as he possibly ever will be under his current trainer and training regime.

The next level, may actually require a change of trainer / team / location and possibly some additional supplements.

He looked good last night. But his test will be when he fights someone who doesn't fold like an accordian and can punch. Titles generally aren't easy to come by in the division he is operating in.

I like him. He's also got a bit of star quality about him. He's more natural in interviews than Joshua for example and he's MR's cash cow who you'd expect would be given plenty of media training.

I also really like the clips of him talking in Spanish to his opponent. Nice touch.

As you say though, huge improvements as a boxer in the last 18 months.

Tyson Fury went from struggling with John McDermott to easilly beating Wlad in about 6 years.

Too risky for Kelly as one of Eddie's future investments, another bad loss and he's finished, Conor could come back from a loss while Kelly IMO can't.

He has improved a lot but he has had every opportunity to. Money, star treatment, top sponsors, top trainers, top gym etc etc etc. Most fighters are still working normal jobs their first 10 fights and training when they can. The guy acts like a wally anyway. I can't support a guy with his attitude.

I don’t disagree but the work ethic is still there and admirable.

Likewise I can’t take to Benn for the way he behaves outside of the ring but in the ring the past couple of fights been very easy on the eye.

I think Benn's persona has been orchestrated to be similar to Connor McGregor, the only difference is that McGregor is quick witted whereas Benn isn't, so he comes across as a bit thick at times with his delivery.

McGregor is a scum bag in real life but I don't think Benn is, from what I've read from people who have met him and in the media is that he's a nice lad.

He's annoying as **** in his promos and interviews but he's playing a role to generate hype and the casuals will lap it up.
