Anthony Joshua became Tony Dosh PPV when he fought Pudding Whyte for the British Title - the narrative being stale beef.

Any fight made PPV since using any narrative.

I didn't say she would. I said shield beats any woman they put in the ring with her.

The way things are heading I see professional boxing turning into three different sports :

    1. Celebs and Youtuber boxers and MMA fighters who can't box, fighting on "pay per view".

    2. Good fighters and mediocre talents who get hyped to the max and just want to be "pay per view", and avoid the very best if they can, or have promoters who avoid that for them.

    3. Old school boxing, with fighters who want to prove themselves the best and be true world champions and are allowed to test themselves and have reasonable legitimate careers.

1 and 2 will cross over at times, as will 2 and 3.
It would probably be too optimistic to think category 3 isn't fading into oblivion with every passing day.

I wouldn't say Vargas is a bum, what he is, is a shopworn fighter who's slowed down in the ring against a young much quicker fighter. Good match making for Benn, Vargas did his job, he made Benn look better than he probably is. He'll move on yelling for Khan, Kell Brook, or some other fading fighter.

He just is not considered by business usable as prospect fighter who had his remaining beat out from him by up coming Vergil and maybe therefore he had been considered to show chase Benn's skills like almost finished in distance by Yarde old already shot Kovalev for Canelo.

Business matchmaking where we see even by boxrec not in top 50 ranked boxer vs future PPV star for business.

    while I don’t disagree totally.

A case can be made for Benn stopping Vargas more impressively then Ortiz did. (Although Sammy could be shot to shet at this point)

on the converse I suspect Crawford is just as many levels ahead of Ortiz
As Ortiz is ahead of Benn.

Vargas was Vargas. The quality names he's been in with (and been stopped by) previously are the opposite of Benn, i.e. well schooled fighters who broke him up methodically and patiently. He didn't know how to deal with someone throwing the kitchen sink at him off the bat, froze like Thumper in the headlights. He's just naive, for a guy who's kept the company he's kept. No clinch, no guile, not even a desperate Hail Mary. Very basic guy possessed of a durability he wasn't given a chance to demonstrate last night. An opponent selection which allowed Benn to serve up his best imitation of his old man pouncing on Iran Barkley, looking much better than he really is in the process.

Although there was an air of hometown stoppage about the ending, Vargas is the only one who can be blamed for it. He wasn't showing the official anything at all and kept getting hit.

Eddie Hearn knows he can put on any old shite and there are enough mugs out there who will lap up to justify him doing it. Just look at some of the positive reactions to Courtenay vs Bridges. I've even seen people saying that Savannah Marshall vs Claressa Shields shouldn't be an undercard fight as it's worthy of its own PPV:lol:

But he was the lesser fighter, though.

Is it just me or is Conor Benn a bit unlikeable.

Blasted out a guy 126th in the boxers rankings

EH said it and I believe he said they would get the men’s rate for the fight. What he didn’t specify was that it would be area title men’s rate that the women would earn.
Don’t think this fight will be made as both fighters have asked for big money

Anyone have any reasonable explanation why this gassed up fashion victim was wearing Beats around his neck in an interview conducted immediately post-fight?

Somebody should tell him the whole 'look how cool, calm and collected I am, I'm wearing Beats by Dre™ at the weigh-in/presser' routine peaked seven years ago in 2014. And, even then, nobody was enough of a goof to put them on for a post-fight interview.

if he's developing by such quantum leaps and bounds, is feeling himself so much and so greatly desires a "real challenge", why not call out Jaron Ennis? He laid a better fighter than Vargas smooth out last night.

For that matter, he was calling Kelly out a few months ago, so why not Avanesyan, now that David splattered the Wearside hypejob? Oh, I forgot he went out of his way to buddy up to the guy after seeing what he did to Kelly.

A lot of woofing and no real intent. This guy just wants to con his way to a bag and bail out before thirty so he can spend the rest of his days posing in the most garishly ugly designer drip under the Dubai sun. The lofty aspirations of the Barratt class. Britain's future is dazzlingly bright.
