Lots of shite talking between these two, with all the freak show stuff going on I can see this happening, far stranger things have occurred. Lights Out Vs The Cannon, who wins and how?
Tbh these guys are way past their prime. I think a fight between toney and Tyson shoulda been made around the same time as both trained with Roach. Freddie even predicted that someone would have a gun at the weigh in had this fight happened. But to answer your question, Shannon has stayed in not bad shape, still has Abs and all. Including a positive attitude and a little bit of asthma. On the other hand the smaller James probably could get ready for this fight aka tons of sparring (which is his main thing) but James is fat right now and seems older in fighting years. But I don't think he would fear Shannon, he would be a relaxed James toney. Who wins? Idk, that's why they have these fights.
Now? Who the F knows?! Both in their 50's, both haven't fought for Zeus knows how long. Don't know if both or one of them are still on ther PED's either. I predict Toney tries to hit Briggs over the head with his walker, but turns up too short. Briggs retaliates by dropping said walker on Toney's foot. Causing Toney to trip and taking Briggs with him trough the ropes, which causes the ring to buckle, ending it in a NC. Both fighters also fail the pre and post fight drugtests, if they even bother.
In their heyday I think I'd have taken Toney on points. Briggs was never the fastest heavyweight and he loaded up on his shots. A slippery SOB like Toney would probably have slipped and countered a lot. NOW, however, I think Briggs knocks him out. Briggs still has his power and he is more of a gym rat than Toney. I think Toney's defence will have deteriorated much more than Briggs' offence and that Briggs will land the big thunder on him and knock him out cold.
Briggs' power is one of the most overrated attributes in the sport, though. As the legend Steve Holdsworth said "Briggs is not a banger". His first round KO record and general KO record is due to his intention, intensity and volume. I would even say that Briggs' hand speed in his earlier years was more or less on par with his power.
I disagree. Anybody with his KO% can hit. He's not one of those whiplash guys like Hearns though, he's more of a thudding clubbing puncher.
When they were actually legitimate heavyweights I would have picked Toney by UD. Now Briggs prob outworks Toney due to physical fitness
Toney should never be allowed anywhere near a ring for a real fight. Light sparring exhibitions are okay.
