That's ridiculous if AJ/Hearn are really trying to get it pushed back to September, after all the big talk about May/June, then June/July. I really hope this isn't true.
Warren says some strange stuff though sometimes. Other times he's bang on correct. I hope he's wrong with that one.
Mcracken confirmed away with the Olympic team July 23rd to August 8th. Proposed date of fight is July 24th. Chance Mcracken may miss the Olympics instead. Not looking likely. September 18th could be a new date, but no announcements till May. Above are some of the rumours. Warren saying September and the Olympic nonsense coming out, seems thats a highly likely scenario now.
Funny, a few weeks ago they were talking JUNE 26th and July 3rd. Hearn has been saying "late June/early July" up until a few days ago. Then I heard "July 24th" suddenly. It's ridiculous if Robert ****ing McCracken and his bloody Olympic squad has become a reason to push the fight back to September. It's mental that he's even allowed to carry on with his head coach role while occupying such a major training position in the professional game.
There wouldn't necessarily be anything stopping him doing that now would there? He doesn't have the same mandatory situation like Joshua so I think it essentially boils down to whether ESPN will allow it as part of his fight deal. He's in Vegas at the moment so perhaps he's partially there to sort that.
Strikes me that there isn’t a big enough offer on the table from the Middle East to put the fight on before July and they may need a crowd in the UK for this to make the numbers work. Will Wembley be allowed at full capacity by September? It’s a big gamble at this stage.
It's possible but like you say it's a big risk. You'd hope by September that everyone who wants it will have been vaccinated. The risk is the variants I suppose. I think the Government will be looking to put on some big 'showcase' events towards the end of summer if all is going well to help show people they can go out and spend money. Because of this I can see why they'd be keen to have this in the UK if possible. I see Sadiq Khan commented on it last week saying 'he will do everything possible' to get the event in London. I think the other issue with a June/July fight at Wembley is the Euros. September could make it workable at either Wembley or perhaps Old Trafford.
If they are seriously suggesting September, Fury should walk away and book himself a fight for a couple of months time. He's been out the ring for 14 months, he can't be expected to wait around another 5 months on a vague promise. Even "late July" is taking the **** a bit.
I agree. I think whether he can or not will come down to what he can negotiate on his ESPN deal. They probably wouldn't want to pay out for a fight against another bum, but aside from Joshua, Wilder or Ruiz/Whyte there aren't that many fights that could be made that justify being a fight on his deal.. and he probably wouldn't want a risky fight before Joshua so it's a bit of a catch 22.
Yeah, face another dosser, get an unwanted injury because, y'know, he struggles to "get up" for anyone who doesn't own all the belts, put the fight back even more, and all that for what? Ring rust? Both men need to be focused on each other, not tune-up's or nonsense like that.
Maybe you know something that I don't. Fury fought Schwarz and Wallin, who were two unknowns, as part of the ESPN deal, so why can't he take on somebody who less than a certain standard? How many bouts in are we into this deal? I thought it was 3, and this would be the final one. I would imagine that it would be discussed with the network on a bout by bout basis, but I don't know what the contract says. Maybe you can clarify a bit further.
Joshua has faced plenty of "dossers", too, and in world title bouts. Martin, Breazeale and Molina are A list dossers. Even one of the best names on his record, Parker, lost to what the forum almost ubiquitously refer to as a British level boxer in Whyte.
