Which win do you think ranks the highest for Morrison? Ruddock? Foreman? Do you think the left hook that he knocked down Ruddock with was just has solid as the one he caught Foreman with?
The win against foreman is IMO slightly better. I mean both fighters were shot when They stepped into the ring with Morrison. But Big George is obviously the greater opponent. I believe the left hook that he knocked down Ruddock with was probably as solid as the one he caught Foreman with. The thing is Foreman has the stronger chin, which explain why he, unlike ruddock, didn't collapse like he got shot in the head when Morrison hit him with the sledghammer Left Hook. Morrison also has good wins over former heavyweight champion pinklon thomas, Quick Tills Who went 10 rounds with a green Mike Tyson. The Joe hipp and David Jaco wins were "OK"
Foreman. he was ON that night.might be his only pro night he was mentwlly and physically able to give it his all. Had a great plan, incredibly followed it theree whatever problems appeared and won on points as no one thought he could.
Yeah, I'd say the Foreman fight. He changed tack and boxed Foreman. I don't really regard the Ruddock win highly, since both were on the slide, Ruddock more so.
Ruddock got caught by a sneaky left hook and dropped but got up clear eyed. The barrage afterwards led to a bs standing 8 count and a premature stoppage. I'm not saying that Ruddock had a better chin than Foreman, but I did want to at least clear that up. Foreman, Ruddock, Williams, Thomas, and Hipp are his top 5 wins.
Probably the Foreman win but I think his win against Joe Hipp was a good one that deserves mention because Tommy fought through a broken jaw against an opponent that was on fire that night. Hipp was pressuring him and had him hurt more than once in that fight and Morrison hung in there and pulled out a knockout win. I have seen folks question his heart before but he definitely showed a lot of heart in that fight. Too me his biggest issue was he would get a little careless and abandoned his defense at times.
Probably Foreman because for one fight Morrison was able to stay disciplined and fight a very strict tactical fight. He knew Big George could shatter his Glass Jaw with one well timed and placed punch. Morrison could fight he was just too undisciplined and liked to booze and drug too much. The guy either knocked someone out or got knocked out he was never in a boring fight. Imagine that left hook he landed on Ruddock landing on a Glass Jaw like Wilder or even a Heavyweight version of Roy Jones.
I would have to go with Foreman. Regardless of how old George was he held higher status and still had better ability than Ruddock or hip did when morrison fought them. on a side note: I think Morrison gets too much credit for the Ruddock fight. Donovan had been mostly inactive for the precious three years and hadn’t beaten a ranked opponent in even longer. He wasn’t looking in great shape on that evening either. He Still managed to deck Tommy and may even have fallen victim to an early stoppage.
The Foreman win was a tactic that he could not replicate against any other heavyweight because the rest of the heavies could actually move their feet. It was a gimmick win. You can't turn your back and run away from anyone in the rest of the division. Against Joe Hipp, he demonstrated tremendous heart against a guy who was his equal in overall boxing ability and gutted out a win. He suffered a broken jaw and other injuries but bit down and closed the show.
Tactically the Foreman win, however couragesly I'd say the Hipp fight because he ko'd Hipp despite a badly broken jaw and two broken hands.
Foreman because George was good enough to win the world heavyweight championship in his next fight, and he had overall the best resume of anyone Morrison beat. Ruddock was a great win, and great fight and comeback, but Razor was not the same after the Tyson beatings. Morrison also had entertaining wins against Carl Williams, Joe Hipp, and Vaulin.
Morrison - 48 wins - 42 by KO. Only 3 losses His 3 losses only came to a prime Ray Mercer and Lennox Lewis( Tommy was not healthy in that one) and the embarrassing loss to Bentt ( he took lightly and was a fluke). Tommy held some belts as well. He was a great fighter. His top 3 wins, were Foreman Ruddock Hipp
