Ali would beat him too more often than not Vitali and Lewis would be tough matchups as well ... But prime Tyson is very difficult for anyone to beat due to his athleticism, regardless of style
I've heard Mike in interviews from this century not even mention the fouls, instead bringing up how impressed with how great Holy was as a fighter.
I can't see Vitali beating Tyson. Lewis is 50-50 and I go back and forth a lot but I agree Tyson would be very difficult against anyone win or lose, even if I'm not exactly his biggest fan.
I think the only people who wouldn't have had a terrible time against Mike would be prime Liston, Foreman (he probably would have had it the easiest), 60s and very early 70s Ali, FOTC Frazier, and the Holmes from the first Shavers fight to Berbick. Possibly 92 Bowe, but I'm not sure I'd bet on that. Prime Liston would have been completely unintimidated from the stare down on, and I'd guess Mike's aggression and tactics would mostly just serve to **** Sonny off (though I imagine Sonny would get rocked at least a couple of times, further infuriating him). Sonny would pole axe him with the jab and outmuscle until Mike fell in 8 or 9. Just my opinion. Holmes would have jabbed and held for about four or five rounds, then started applying the right more and more. The uppercut would have spelled the end for Mike.
Tyson fans create their own parallell universe like few other fans. That Mike was the past it fighter here and an unwitting victim of foul play. It is really a quite laughable narrative, but they have elevated it to gospel. A peculiar group of boxing fans.
Personally, I'm not convinced the headbutts played a major role in Holyfield's win over Tyson. I mean yes, it's not out of the question that it made something of a difference, but not enough to make the outcome any different than what it was. I wouldn't hang my hat on that for sure.
The hooks and other power punches Tyson missed when he actually fought Lewis would connect and I don't see Lewis surviving them ... If they fought 5 times I'd give Lewis 2 wins ... But that might be generous .... Vitali would have a slight chance at a decision ... Fury as well ... Very tall guys with iron chins who can box have a chance against Tyson in terms of getting a decision As for the headbutts This content is protected This content is protected
That opening clip in the second video with Dokes is what I've been saying. A butt and a low blow at the same time. 'Vander had been getting away with this stuff for years, but escaped any kind of criticism. I can't see how it can be defended or justified.
This content is protected Holyfield is a cheater Without headbutting, steroids, HGH, low blows and other illegal acts he doesn't beat Tyson
Stating categorically as a fact that Holyfield would not beat Tyson without the headbutts is ridiculous to be quite frank
It always looked to me as though Mike was doomed pretty early on in both fights. The first fight he really only looked any good for a short time...but even then I don't think he really resembled the Mike who blew away Berbick, Thomas, Spinks. He was a diminished fighter (obviously that can be mitigated due to the eight to ten year time difference and different trainers, etc). The second fight he was psyched out bad from the outset and things looked pretty much the same, the end was inevitable...but that's just what I saw. I must say, watching Holy beat Dokes today...did Mike fight as good against Douglas as Dokes did against Holy that day? I'm not sure he did. I do of course see the abstract nature of the question, different contexts, etc.
You came across the Mike Tyson fanboys, they are a breed of people, a race, they are the most delusional group of fans I have come across, the Mike Tyson fanboys, their habitat is the comment section of Mike Tyson's fights where they like to live in their own world and like to believe that 'He was shot by 1988' and that he would've 'Destroyed Holyfield and Lewis in 2 rounds in his prime' They think that 'All footage post Kevin Rooney should be burned' This is seriously some of the **** I have seen when I have come across Mike Tyson fanboys
