People love to fantasise that fighters are 'scared' of each other. It clearly titillates people for some reason. The truth is that neither are 'scared' of each other. Both will make millions from any fight that'll soften the blow of a defeat. The truth about the delays is certainly far less exciting than one being 'scared' of the other.. it's just promoters, fighters and broadcasters being greedy.
The fact that you call those guys dossers when one was a world champ (although poor), says it all. That would have been a terrible mistake not to go for that fight. So what's Tysons excuse for fighting a no-mark when he just won the belt in his last fight?
I think for Fury it's one of two things Game playing to keep the fight in public discourse (including here) He's old school and genuinely wants a tune up. Despite the bravado he recognises that to give him the best chance of optimal performance he needs a proper fight before Joshua. I think both of those are valid reasons really. It's a shame he didn't fight in December for whatever reason - whether greed or contractual issues.
I genuinely disagree. Fury ALWAYS looks terrible in tune-up fights, so what's the point? Also, the oldskool fought the best. Tyson's last two fights have been against the same bloke, and there's a chance if he doesn't fight AJ next, he fights a nobody. Hardly oldskool.
I agree that it is not ideal to fight a pudding. But that seems to be the status quo. It's not exactly unusual in boxing for champions to be competing in bouts that are mismatches. I'm not someone who believes in putting stock into the whole "top 10" thing. Currently, there's Fury, Joshua and Wilder who are at the top. Whyte has a comparatively good record (compared to "top 10ers" and the rest), Ruiz showed that he could pummel Joshua, so he would need to be thrown into the mix. Usyk, for my money, will prove his worth. Then there's the Steady Eddie's of the world like Pulev, who are 40 odd and have no great wins at all, but can beat lower ranked opposition, but are nowhere near good enough to win a world title. And there are the prospects, or boxers on the rise who are biding their time for a good opportunity, either through merit (Joyce) or are still developing through safe matchmaking (Ajagba, Hrgovic). These boxers might already have the ability and are on the cusp, but they also may want a couple of extra bouts before challenging for the title. Unfortunately, they know that if they lose, they might never get another chance. It's not a meritocratic system. There's no guarantee that if Fury even offered the bout that they would accept. When you take into account all of the various factors, it more or less is likely to be a mismatch, whether he wants it to be, or not. Fury will likely take on a no hoper, but as I said, Joshua has fought plenty of no hopers in title fights. Wilder took on plenty. Fury has yet to defend a belt. So I don't really understand the prejudiced claim that it is only Fury that likes fighting bums.
I don't think it matters how he looks or performs too much as long as he wins, it's just a match fitness thing. The thing about oldskool fighting the best is just a totally different point to the one I was making so I don't have anything to say to that.
Thread full of victims and this legend rocks up right on cue, taking personal responsibility for his own sht. Solutions focused, no messing, good man. You’ll go a long way chief, I’m expecting big things.

The guy just wants to have a fight, if that is not old school enough for you then i don't know what is. It does not matter who it is against.
