Browne is going to walk Gallen onto one and stop him ice cold. People are going to feel stupid for thinking that someone as awful as Gallen stood a chance against of Browne's calibre. Even though I agree he is washed up these days and a sloppy mess.
Gallen is always in peak physical condition and I think he'll go the full 6 vs Browne. Gallen showed great resilience vs Hunt and that is maybe down to his fitness. ps. I hope this is drug tested, and I hope Gallen stipulated this...
Mark Hunt isn’t even a boxer himself. Hasn’t even won a boxing fight in his entire life either has he?
You know Mark Hunt had 3 boxing fights in his life and went 0-2-1? Hunt was a decent kickboxer and MMA fighter. He relied a lot on his chin, speed (for a fat guy) and explosiveness. He was a brawler with a great chin. He looked god damn awful against Gallen though. Browne actually has some decent boxing skills and a very, very good jab. Browne will come into the fight with a massive height and reach advantage. He will pick Gallen apart from the distance with his jab. Brown also clearly the puncher in that matchup. Gallen has a punchers chance but nothing on tape suggests that he's a puncher. He has horrendous technique too. I think Browne is the crystal clear favorite. If Gallen wins it's probably by body shot KO. Don't see him outboxing Browne. Browne has good footwork for a big guy too. Personally, i think he'll pick Gallen apart with his jab and will probably stop him with a right hand at some point.
Hunt is an extremely experienced striker. At his best he would have been at the very least a competent journeyman - his early boxing matches were when he was a less experienced striker, before he became more seasoned in K-1 and MMA. He's old now though of course so Gallens win while solid for a late crossover to combat sports crossover isn't as impressive as it would have been in the past.
I think this ultimately comes down to size and that jab. Even if it's not a peak jab, it's still effective. Add to that, If 5'10 Hunt with smaller reach, albeit a seasoned striker, can hit you flush then even a shot Big Daddy is probably going to have some success. And he's still carrying power. I still think Gal will take it the distance and lose a decision to Browne, who himself, will look utterly atrocious in winning. The jab and the upper cut will win it for Brown, plus his seasoned tactics, like knowing how to hold and tie up. Gallen will want to entertain the crowd I feel, and keep bumping his head into Brown's jab, and that will be his downfall. Having said that.....I wouldn't be surprised if an bollocking Gallen delivers a sweet overhand right whilst in the pocket and floors him. Though, I don't consider Gallen one-pinch gifted and Big daddy has decent recuperative skills when he's not getting knocked cold or his liver dissected. UD Brown
I have envisioned Gallen starting well and getting in close he might even win the first round but I see him getting tagged hard with an uppercut from Browne and going down. A lot has been said that Browne is under estimating Gallen but I actually think it is the other way around. We could have another Danny Green Antonio Tarver like situation on our hands in Australia.
wonder if it will be a repeat of big bob mirovic vs john hopoate? the aged boxer in browne facing the raw hopoate using brute force and toughness. surely browne gets a draw at least.
Mark Hunt was 46, a non-boxer and morbidly obese ffs...5’10” and 280lb with absolutely no stamina to compete whenever Gallen was able to get on his chest I tentatively thought Gallen might win that and it was kind of a genius opponent selection really. Hunt still had a lot of credibility as a fearsome striker yet there was an obvious path to victory for Gallen even as a novice himself On paper Browne should win this easily and overall I tend to think he will...but given their respective levels of fitness and dedication to the sport I can easily see a fired up Gallen beating up a disinterested Browne. That’s without even getting into the possibility of something fishy going down..... tbh if Gallen had been a boxer and not a league player there’s no chance he would even be a heavyweight. He’s still carrying huge amounts of footy bulk to just weigh 220-230lb.
