I've seen it in worse shape.

I still chuckle about Pat coming on here after AJ-Ruiz 1 and straight faced saying that he and the sages at his gym sat around discussing this fight beforehand and came to the consensus that Ruiz would win lol. It would’ve meant something if he’d said it prefight but of course that didn’t really happen.

Pat reminds me of Magnawhatsit? who claimed to be an anonymous boxer who sparred every heavyweight from John L Sullivan onwards even though his story constantly kept changing. Pat is so desperate for attention he makes sure he inserts his boxing insider schtick in practically every post while always, always picking the more recent guy.

LARPing is definitely a thing on here.

I'm amazed by how many people seem to take him and other trolls (or semi-trolls) like him so seriously.

The boxing sage act is laughable.
The funny thing is, it is well known in boxing in the real world (all over the world), that boxing (amateur and pro) has more than its fair share of frauds and hangers-on claiming to be experts anyway. At just about every level. In just about every gym. Usually failed boxers and failing trainers themselves, with a need for attention. You can usually tell them by the fact they are constantly telling people how more they know, then dressing up the most basic knowledge in a veneer of BS.
You get them in all sports, strength sports and martial arts especially.
Sometimes they luck out and actually get to tag along with someone good. Unfortunately we've seen it happen at the highest level even.

The people who know the most usually aren't running around telling everyone how superior they are, they just go about the work quietly. And they don't dress simple stuff up as complex, they do the opposite.

So, it's funny that Pat actually thinks "being in a boxing gym" means so much. I go to the gym all the time and it means jack **** ! I'm nothing special. No one gives a ****. No one cares if you're new to the gym or not, they focus on what they do. I know good pro boxers who never ever mention their pro status, or achievements, they are quiet and hard-working, and don't dress themselves up as something incredible, they are quitely proud at best. Most good trainers are very modest. People are people. There's hardly any of this "boxers' opinions versus fans' opinions" nonsense that Pat imagines. Current and young boxers tend to respect the older fans' knowledge and time spent following the sport, and are often keen to hear about the older generations of fighters.
In the real world, that is.

You get some blow-hards and insecure types in the gym, on the street and on the internet. And often they are the same people getting in all those areas.

I could never work out whether he was legit at all.
He could be pleasant enough and didn't post anything ridiculous but his personal account and the 'sececy' he put around his identity despite constantly recalling his career and sparring stories, was a bit odd.

I've gotta say, he had me fooled. As you say, not an unpleasant poster at all. He didn't seem like he was trying to impress, and his stories did seem quite believable.
But then some posters started to have doubts. I took it in the end that Magna-whatever had to be telling fibs.

    It was.
He was a good guy but felt the need to throw his own sparring and boxing accounts (unsubstantiated of course) into a hell of a lot his posts. His stories didn’t quite add a up and he got called on it and disappeared. I feel bad lumping him in with Pat because Pat just enjoys disrespecting truly great fighters whereas Magna didn’t.

Sam Peter was a big, crude, clubbing fighter. His skill level was low but his power was extreme, his chin was good and he was pretty fast for his size. I think the physical problem he'd pose Patterson (who was way better than him technically) would be too much for Floyd. Patterson's known durability problems would be exposed and blown apart in this one.

Yeah, Magna was okay but it seems the holes in his personal account became apparent.

Pat M would be fine if he just said modern fighters are X times better than ones of 60 or 70 years ago based on better trainig, etc. It's a reasonable belief, it can be reasoned. But it's all the other dumb troll stuff he throws on top, that is plainly wrong, and if he's being serious is completely exposes his lack of knowledge and understanding."Max Baer wouldn't even qualify as a 4-round opponent for a fighter's professional debut" ...."Joe Savage would beat Max Baer"

"I don't care about records, I study video" and then "Baer looks 5-6 inches taller than Schmeling" ... ( FFS ... What kind of inches are they? I guess my **** must be 18 or so !) ... I mean, WTF, this guy has to be a troll right. *

And it gets worse, where "some MMA guy at the gym" reckons the likes of SRR and Willie Pep are rubbish or whatever, so everyone on the internet needs to understand that "MMA guy" has a level of wisdom above what everyone on the internet (barring Pat himself, of course) has.

It's remarkable that such trolling seems to get so much respect from some quarters. Looks like the lunatics have taken over the asylum.

    * and, btw, I don't even view Max Baer as much more than a crude swinging raw talent. He's certainly open to a high degree of criticism, ridicule even, as long as it's realistic and not obviously false.

Sam Peter would be an extremely tough and dangerous opponent for Patterson and I'd steer clear of him if I was handling Floyd's fights.

I'd let old Archie fight/beat him instead.

Griffo/Unforgiven, it's flattering that you two can remember everything I ever posted, I'm just a modest man so it's a little embarrassing to have two adults (I am making an assumption) idolize me the way you do. Thanks.

Unfortunately, between the two of you, you have almost 60,000 posts and I don't remember a single one that you've posted. Sorry, I guess we all just remember the good posts, maybe one day one of you will write something memorable? Since you two are infatuated with me, I'll try to help you.

When one knows the subject about what he/she is writing, that person's posts are memorable as you have shown by remembering what I write. When one spends all day regurgitating old Bert Sugar articles, that person's posts are forgettable. You two should get some experience in the sport before posting 60,000 posts about something that you don't understand. Just some free advice. I usually don't give out such advice, but since you obviously hero worship me, I want to be helpful. You're welcome.

EDIT: it is strange that two posters respond at almost the same time to a post. Are you a couple? If so, I hope that the obvious admiration that both of you have for me is not causing jealousy in your relationship? Griff is asking for personal information about me, sorry but I don't need a stalker. Admiring me on a message board from afar is one thing, obsessively following me would be another. This is going from flattering to creepy...

Like I said before, you'd be forgettable if not for the dumb troll stuff you post.
You're memorable because you're pretty much the worst poster here.
And, yes, you DO deserve some sort of admiration for that. It's a historically tough division to reach the pinnacle of. Well done.

I can't remember the last time I ate a "Bert Sugar article", nevermind regurgitate one.

Yeh I’m infatuated with a bloke who posts a thousand posts of self aggrandising BS.

Name your gym or even a single one of your fighters Pat M otherwise you’ll look like a lying fraud! I’d love to put them under the microscope. Especially if you reckon you have the credentials to critique some genuine ATG’s. I reckon you’re a liar. That a LIAR! Prove me wrong numbnuts it’s not very hard to do if you are who you say you are.

Yeah, I can't remember ever seeing fight footage of these novices he has who'd beat Harry Greb, Gene Fullmer or Max Baer, etc.
Maybe he did post it and I missed it.
Or even sparring footage ..... because we know in Pat's world sparring behind close doors at an actual boxing gym (:!!!) is actually the ultimate measure of how good a fighter is. Forget the official business end, the real fights, the big event .... the real measure is how good a fighter sparred in the gyms in front of real trainers like Pat (and his giggling boxer friends).
