To me heart is a massive part of what defines an ATG.

He was. He gave a pre-Manila Ali a really good fight and unstuck himself off the canvas to knock the crap out of a prime Shavers.

I don't think there's any reasoning with dude. I tried to use respect, but the Trolldom is going out of control here.

To address the OP, Foreman was utterly clinical against Cooney. It doesn't matter that Gerry was already a busted flush.
George took Cooney's hook, although he did feel it but that shot would have levelled an awful lot of Heavyweights.
After that, Foreman kept moving Cooney around, off his centre, to open him up for the big shot. You could feel the presence of Archie Moore in his corner.

What did he do so much to impress you? I have seen film of him and his best bouts.

I loved this performance. I thoroughly enjoyed watching George turn overrated Cooney into a lifeless slab of meat. Did you not enjoy watching him crash to the canvas?

Nice foot work great 1,2. Decent speed for his size. Power. Competition beat. There is plenty to like of Lyle.

Ali was having all KINDS of trouble with him. And this was an Ali only two fights away from knocking OUT Foreman and generally making him look bad.

Foreman was 6'3" and 220 pounds against Ali. Ali was the same height and 3 1'2 pounds less. Was he a super heavy too? Foreman was 217 1'2 in his greatest ever win.

Lyle was 6'3" and 220 against Foreman, identical to Foreman's stats again Ali. Surely he's a super heavy as well?

Norton was 6'3" and often hit 215-220 so he'd be in the convo as well. Holmes was 6'3" and averaged out around 212-215 or similar.

LeDoux was just an inch and a half shorter and regularly weighed around what peak Foreman did.

Joe Bugner was taller than Foreman and weighed about the same and fought in the same era. Why did he not excel?

Buster Mathis was flopping around at 6'3" and 240 plus and loads of excess weight like a lot of these "super heavies" of today.

    What's the cut off?

George didn’t fight anyone with Wlad’s power or size in the 70s.

Imaginary Modern 1970s Foreman has risen from the ashes to spank Tyson Fury. GTFO. 1970s Foreman was an inexperienced 220ish heavyweight who would gas out from Fury leaning on him.

    1. Ali knocked him out.
    2. Lyle made him look like ****.
    3. Norton had no chin and would be better served drying out to cruiser if he were around today.
    4. Joe Bugner did 27 rounds with Ali and didn’t collapse. Foreman never even won a 12 rounder in the 70s.
    5. Mathis sucked.

Talk about heroes lmao. Fury ain’t leaning on anything. He better be dancing or he would be on his back. Got dropped by much lesser fighters. Although Fury’s style would trouble George tremendously...but he ain’t leaning on him.

No but Wlad did and ended up knocked out by lesser fighters.

We know that Foreman had an excellent chin

Wlads entire style centers around protecting his glass jaw ... I see Foreman going to the body and Wlad lowering his hands and getting brutally knocked out

Wlad is about the same size as Lou Savarese and of course Cooney ... And Savarese and Cooney didn't dwarf Foreman like some are implying would be the case ... Wlad had a huge fatal flaw everyone knows about and someone like Foreman is a horrible matchup for him

Jimmy Young made Foreman talk to God.
