Weidman went for a low ick and Hall checked it. Weidman leg broke like a twig and then he goes to stand and bends it.
When I saw his leg at a right angle, I nearly threw up. Looked like a tibia and fibula break. years of shin kicking must take it's toll on the strength of the bones. Looks like that's a career ender that one. Poor guy.
The break didn't make me Squeamish. It was when he tried to stand on it. All his weight made it just folded in.
horrible injury, are the risks that fighters run, although in boxing there are more deaths, in mma there are more injuries. I hope he recovers soon.
Man oh man I feel for Chris, and I also feel for Chris' wife. This poor woman has had to watch her husband get absolutely devastated in the cage pretty much every fight since 2015. Seriously, who else out there losses in more traumatizing fashion than Chris Weidman? The guy gets tortured by Luke Rockhold in what was basically the MMA equivolent of the St. Valentines Day Massacre. Then he get's flying kneed senseless against Yoel Romero, and then basically quits against Moussasi while trying to con the referee for a DQ. He got knocked into the living death in his hometown by Jacare. He fell to Reyes with humiliating ease after talking such a big game beforehand. And now this. I was such a big fan of this guy back in his prime. Most MMA grapplers skew really heavily in the direction of one grappling art. But Chris was virtually a unicorn in that he was an elite All American wrestler who had skills in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu that were on par with legends in that sport. Unfortunately something went horribly wrong with his career.
Weidman should have retired 3 fights ago and he would have saved himself from this sickening injury. It's crazy that he suffered the exact injury as Silva. I can't watch again... it's nauseating.
No but really... how weird is that though. (The link between him and silva and their leg breaks). Coincidences like those trip me out.
The feed cut away as Weidman dropped in agonizing pain. Never seen that before. I think they replayed the connect only once and then cut away to Hall kneeling down for about 3-4 mins. Sickening injury that very likely ended Wideman's career. He used be really good to watch back in his prime years
