You know nobody really beat him for a decade. They gifted Rameriez the first fight. HORRIBLE decision. I thought he beat De La Hoya and even if you don't agree it was a very close fight. He boxed Chavez's ears off rather easy. Beat the Jesus out of Buddy the second time. Made Azumha look normal easily. Went the distance with Tito when he was a mere shadow of himself. And Tito was knocking everyone out at the time. I mean look what's on his resume and look at Lomas. And here is the scary thing -similar build Pea went on the way up to Jr.middle AND bested a dominant Welterweight champion.
Loma is more skilled than any fighter that fought during the 90`s, there was nothing that those fighters did in the ring that Loma doesn`t do.
Those fighters weren`t that great, I think McGirt was his best win but he was overated, Ramirez wasn`t very good and Chavez was all over the place v Whitaker, Loma has fought several fighters more skillful than Haugen and Azumah didn`t look good at 135.
No one had schooled Loma. I had scored Lopez vs Loma fight as 115-113 for Lopez and this was damn close fight. He had also fooled Loma: looks that his game plan was to outbox Loma not to KO/TKO him and Loma didn't had picked this until this was too late. Props for Lopez, lad even liked me a lot when he boxed vs Loma. Salido fight? This pillow fist for sure had been finished in distance if he had in the ring Lopez or Linares. Loma then looks that was not enough tailored for pro boxing reality. I had handled such a boxer far more brutally than Glowacki did vs Vlasov and Briedis vs Glowacki and he didn't had reached till cards. More than this: If I was his handler, I didn't had allowed him to fight vs boxer who can't make weight in in limit. Loma handlers definitely looks that were too c***y there.
James Buddy McGirt might be many things but overrated is certainly not one of them that’s for sure. Chavez was not all over the place it’s just Whittaker was so great and Ramirez was a very good fighter and champion. It’s difficult to engage you seriously when you throw out these type of silly comments. Greg Haugen may not have been the most skillful fighter ever but he was a tough SOB who beat guys much more skilful and gifted than him. My Uncle Azumah always looked he lost on points to Whittaker at his very best who admitted after the fight that Uncle was an all time great, not my words but his.
These are the only counters McGirt threw v Whitaker in the first round of their rematch, unimpressive: McGirt misses wide with counter right 29:48 quick counter jab 30:30 counter right to the body 30:46 glancing counter right 31:20.
Right.people underestimate Peas power- watch him closely and watch how he digs downstairs. An upstart in Lopez beat Loma. NOBODY beat Pea for a DECADE. He schools Loma in the pros. Look at the mans resume. Loma already has two losses. Pea has a total of FOUR with one being an outright robbery. So THREE.
Ramirez beat ROSARIO and came with in a hair of beating ARGUELLO. But he wasn't good. Buddy beat up Simon Brown a dominant champion but he wasn't good. Haugen beat Jimmy Paul AND Camacho but he wasn't any good. Tell you what. Name me seven of Lomas best wins that were As good as Haugen. Last time I checked Chavez was unbeaten when he faced Pea. Funny Nelson beat Fenech,Ruelas, and Jessie James after Pea DOMINATED him.
You still dksab, outside of trivia, which you obviously sometimes still get confused, like in this statement.
Pernell too big. Loma best years were spent in the Amateurs and he is a phenom. At 126 not many if any beat him. But he is beatable at 135
Camacho wasn`t a very good fighter at light-welter, he never won one of the established belts at the time at that weight and had to settle for the inferior WBO, Chavez completely dominated Camacho at 140, Lopez would have finished Fenech quicker than Nelson did, he was tiny compared to lightweights, I really don`t think Nelson could have been a good lightweight at all.
