Just watched again the greatest fight I ever saw. The most exciting, violent my favorite. Matthew Saad Muhammad vs Yaqui Lopez 2 . Beautifully filmed nonstop. Makes Hagler-Hearns look like nothing. . and yes I like it better than any other previos Saad fight.
This was a tremendous fight. I felt sorry for Lopez; in another era he would have won a title, but this was a great era for light-heavyweights. Saad was inhuman at times. He just wouldn't be denied, no matter what.
Yes, very good. now remember to get drunk and remind everyone (In all yellow caps )Wilfred wizzed blood against Duran a product of his hidden body blow clinic.
Yes great fight. Saad is one of my favorites. Also the story line of Yaqui going for the title. His 4th and probably last chance. Yaqui Lopez should reflect on that nite with some amount of peace. He succeeded. He came and did everything he was supposed to do. Lopez didn't fail that nite. He was so good it took an opponent who was magical to take what he had. Saad was an Alien. I like to watch inspirational videos at times. One of the ones I check out round 8 of this fight. If it doesn't move you start following Golf.
As much as I LOVE Saad and laud him for his performance and comeback, I think something that often gets overlooked in this fight is that when Yaqui hurt Matt, he was making a comeback himself. He had been badly cut up in the round and the rally was surprising to say the least.
What? I was born in Oct. Of 1982. Must of missed that. Wilfred has been a vegetable basically all my life. Sad. Yet he still would make more sense than a lot of the posters on here.
It's one of my go-to fights for anyone who is interested in the sport and who has said 'I saw [fight X] last night - it was great!'. That's when I pull Saad-Lopez 2 out of the proverbial bag. "You think that fight was 'great' - okay. But check this fight out if you really want to know what great is!" Round 8 is in my opinion the greatest round on film (that I'm aware of anyway) but there are plenty of other tremendous rounds as well and of course the whole ebb and flow and narrative of the fight is epic.
The sheer volume of hard hurtful punches by both guys is amazing. And the eternal spirit of weathering the storm & not giving up.
