Talk about revisionist history and hero’s. Let’s not pretend Lewis was some slick tactician. His skill set exceeded George’s but let’s not pretend he was some perfect boxer. His defense had almost as many holes as George’s for crying out loud.

 

George never even won a decision over 12 in the 70s. He was as incomplete as they come at championship level.

 

He didn’t need to win a decision. He knocked em all out...almost. You can’t tell me Lewis wasn’t carefully managed either his whole career. Both were managed well.

He ended up an exhausted mess against Ali and Young. I do give him credit for doing some rounds with that Argentine light heavyweight though.

 

Yeah def was arrogant and thought he could put anyone away early. Had nervous problems (was tense so got tired quicker when he was young), pacing problems. He had issue for sure. He just had a lot of other great qualities to compensate.

 

100% of his problem is that he wasn’t boxing at an early age.

Lyle was stopped by Ali, AJ hits harder than Ali did and Ruiz got up off the floor.

Ali couldn`t have stopped Ruiz with those shots, none of those shots were as hard as the uppercut-hook combo that AJ floored Ruiz with, look at the slow mo of the impact AJ`s shots had on Ruiz and lok at the impact of Ali`s shots on Lyle, no comparison.

 

Lewis had better movement and Steward tightened up his combo`s, his 1-2 was sharper and neater than George`s, he out-boxed Tua and Foreman would have been hit a ton of times by Tua over 12 rounds, if that fight went that long.

 

AJ doesn't take a punch near as well as Ali and isn't near as good as a fighter.
