He hasn't shown much. Have you ever heard of foresight? What did Andy Rice Pudding Jr show in the 2 years prior to him beating your beloved Joshua all over the ring? Sporting success is not simply the result of linear progression. I rate Alvarez highly, but I definitely don't think he's some unbeatable phenomenon. In my book, he's had 4 losses. He looked pitiful against the ghost of Kovalev. I give Saunders a chance, if he does have the stamina, to outbox Alvarez to a UD loss, as stated. That doesn't mean I think he will win, or won't be stopped. As I've previously said, I think Saunders might have a questionable chin, and I see him getting stopped before I see Alvarez legitimately outboxing him to a decision. Is that so unreasonable? Does it merit being branded as someone with a "fetish for pikeys"? It seems highly unfashionable to say anything less than arselicking Alvarez, actually, but I'm not afraid of going against the grain. I'd say that the forum has a fetish for Alvarez before I do for "pikeys".
Fury struggled with McDermott. Manny got iced by Torrecampo. I really don't think what he did in the ring with Jnr, over 5 years ago, is relevant now. I just don't think it's a forgone conclusion that Alvarez has this in the bag.
Canelo by stoppage 7-10 Saunders is going to get broken down. Body shots will slow him down and then it's game over. Why isn't BJS doing media? This guy has never had the amount of eyeballs watching him before and he doesn't want to do any Media lol
I did ask what he's done within the last two years, so... BJS is a fat LMW. Has constantly ducked the big boys for years. And has had the WORST prep for a fight like this. Majorly inactive AND old, and Canelo is bang in his prime. This isn't an idiot like Lemiux. This is the best boxer on earth right now.
This. The big difference between Canelo and BJS is Canelo today is far better fighter than the one who fought Lara for instance. Nobody can say beyond doubt that BJS is far better fighter today than the one beat Eubank Jnr. Canelo continues to get better everytime you see him in the ring while I can't remember the last time I was really impressed with Saunders.
BJS has entered the elite boxing ring and there is going to be a global meltdown should he somehow pull this off. I gave Fury very little chance when he fought Wilder 1 but these travellers do appear to have fighting qualities that take us all by surprise. I do expect Canelo to win by stoppage but don't be too surprised by the unexpected should it happen.
BJS isn't that small, and Canelo isn't that big. Size is irrelevant in this fight. I don't think either guy can claim to be the bigger man. Its pretty even. Canelo is less than a year younger, so must be old too lol Age isn't a factor at all, Canelo probably has more miles on the clock vs BJS being inactive. Both have there positives and negatives. All I can say is there are zero excuses from either side in terms of primes. BJS is in his prime too
Has Saunders ever been down as a pro, or even badly hurt? I’m pretty sure he’s never been on the floor, and I’m struggling to think of any time where he’s been seriously wobbled. He’s faced decent punchers too to be fair, though do you put that down to him having a good chin or just not getting hit?
Wobbled but never down and he has been hit by solid punchers I don't believe Canelo has ever been down either. He has been hurt probably worse than Saunders in the Cotto bro fight
If it is competitive I will gladly hold my hands up and admit I’m wrong. I think 3/4 years ago at 160lb he would have had a chance. I just don’t think he has the fitness or is as mobile at 168lb, and has been hit more often in recent fights than I am used to seeing. Coupled with the fact Canelo is an elite fighter who seems to be adding wrinkles.
I can't see how Canelo can stop Saunders unless he lands a monster shot on him. Saunders is a brave guy and has grit. He will fight through a semi concussive shot. If he is able to get up he certainly will. I'd say Canelo will have to turn the lights off Saunders is much harder to hit than the plank. The plank still could have gone 15 rounds lol.
I don't think 8lbs is bad at his age, to be honest I think it's a blessing. Looking at his current shape I'd say he would be pretty drained at 160. 168 he would surely have better cardio
I have to say Smith probably should have gone up after WBSS. We saw he was ****ed at the weight in the Ryder fight which he clearly lost. Canelo proved to be 50% better than Ryder imo. Ryder battered Smith too, Canelo just did it easier and in more style. Canelo is a stud and already a great, but not invincible
With all due respect pal you didn't, you said, That was your reply to me. I think we've got off on the wrong foot here and I think the thread is in danger of getting a little bit stupid if opinions are just getting a little aggressively shot down. I'm not saying you're doing it to me, you've merely got yourself a little tangled up as demonstrated above.
