Ruiz lost his power and punch resistance with his new weightloss. He should go back to eating tacos and sneakers.

He was a fat slob against the ghost of Liakhovich and couldn't even wobble him. He was lighter against Zumbano Love and couldn't wobble him either.

The sooner people realise that his victory against Joshua was more indicative of Joshua's level than anything else, the better.

 

I expected an easier night for Ruiz, like most here. But it is a tricky proposition to go into a fight knowing that everything but a quick, dominant win will be seen as something of a failure, especially if the other guy is really up for it. And Arreola was.

Ruiz vs Whyte would be an interesting fight, but Whyte will probably be looking for a title fight and not much more than keep busy fights before he gets one.

 

I hope this fight ends once and for all the debate about whether a) Ruiz is a great fighter deserving of fantasy matchups against All Time Greats, or, b) whether Ruiz is simply a mediocre fighter who got lucky against Joshua. Because the answer seems pretty clear now.

Ruiz is clearly good, but he's not great.

Usyk would stop him, IMHO.

 

AJs loss to Ruiz has aged well.

 

No, he just has to find a blance between being big enough to be robust but quick enough to catch a fighter on the move.

 

AJ stood in front of Ruiz, then boxed his ears of by getting on his bike in the rematch Chris used that as the blueprint, Ruiz needs to catch fighters on the counter to be effective.

 

Ruiz always was a counter puncher but he might lost some pop behind his punches due to the weight loss and not sure about his punch resistance either. Fat usually is a very good thing at HW (of course you shouldn't be obese). Getting dropped by Arreola is terrible.

 

He`s too easy to hit, Parker and AJ found him pretty easy to hit too, despite AJ getting caught early in that first bout.
