Frank only lost to really big punchers. Smith in the last round with several big shots. Witherspoon punch after punch. Mike Tyson nearly uppercuts Bruno’s head off. Lennox punched the **** out of Frank. But Franks problem was not covering up or holding on. Sure took a hell of a lot of shots and still didn’t go down. Not until second Tyson fight and even then Mike had to throw several shots. Frank would have no fear of Floyd’s power. I know Frank gets underrated/overrated at times but no way does a Cruiserweight and a small Cruiserweight at that even comes close to outboxing a fighter with Franks jab and overall power the first time Frank lands a meaningful punch what do you think Floyd’s gonna do? Try to take him the distance in the hope he tires? Frank only struggled against big punchers. No way Floyd hits hard or fast enough to even bother Frank.
Exactly. Let’s take Oleksandr Usyk as an example. 6ft 3inch. 78 reach. That’s one inch height over Ali. Same reach. I know height and reach and weight ain’t everything but come on. How do you think Floyd’s gets on in the Cruiserweight never mind heavyweight division. And Frank is one big heavyweight.
I'm curious as to what makes you think this. Bruno never had an issue getting a hurt man out of there, and Floyd always seemed to fold once he was hurt.
As soon as Frank pressures Floyd, sensing that he´s unable to handle the pressure, as soon as Frank lands anything on his mandible, Floyd gets down and the fight is over. I don´t see him boxing Frank long enough to gas. But yes, Patterson in the 80s division of 190lb would be nice fights.
The point is size matters to an extent. Floyd Patterson may be more skilled pound for pound but he is a low end cruiserweight on the scales. Bruno would pummel him in few rounds
I could see this very scenario play out...I tend to think it would go to the cards and Floyd should get a decision. How early/late do you think Floyd might stop him?
I doubt Bruno would go much longer against Patterson than he managed against Tyson. I think going 5 rounds with Tyson was actually a little bit flattering to Bruno, since Tyson was sloppy in that fight. Considering Tyson had Bruno down in the opening seconds, I suspect if Tyson was in his finest form it would have been over inside 1. Patterson should knock Bruno out in 4-8 rounds, I think. Speed and accuracy.
