There are rumors that there could be near 70,000 tickets sold for Canelo Saunders. If that is true, then it would be the biggest attendance for a boxing event in the United States since?

Louis vs Schmeling 2 in 1938? According to boxrec, the Gross attendance was listed at 72,000, and the Paid attendance was 66,227.

The next closest since then appears to be 63,352 for Ali Spinks 2 at the Superdome.

In terms of paid attendance, this could surpass even Louis Schmeling 2.

Then you would have to go back all the way to 1927 for Dempsey Tunney 2 at Soldier Field with an attendance of 104,943.

So this appears to have a chance to have the largest paid attendance to see a boxing match in the United States in nearly 95 years.

    Miles off.

Billy did terrible numbers in his hometown, let alone another country.

    It's all for Canelo, baby!

They're capping the seats at 65,000.

Some seats are $40. Ringside seats are only $775, which is a great deal for a big fight. GGG-Clenelo 2 ringside seats were $5,000. Too bad Clenelo is swerving the trilogy match.

There are conflicting reports as to this event's capacity. A week ago Jerry Jones was quoted as saying they'll have over 65,000. This looks to be on track for the largest attendance ever in Texas for a boxing event. The current high in Texas is 59,995 for Chavez vs Whitaker at the Alamodome, where apparently the paid attendance for that was a mere 56,959, though Jimmy Lennon announced on the night that the fight had drawn 63,000 and broke the record for the largest indoor record. Perhaps Lennon jumped the gun and that wasn't the real attendance, though it's still reported as 63,000 in some places.

If it surpasses 63,352, it will be the largest attendance in USA since Louis vs Schmeling 2 in 1938. So at this point, it's certainly flirting with making history from an attendance standpoint. I wonder if there could be a surge of day of event sales.
