That is what it was. Yeah, it was a close fight but Chisora defintely deserved the nod. At the very least it was a draw. They went with the younger face as so often is the case.
Agreed. He definitely got robbed if you score punches to the forearms, gloves, back of the head and below the belt.
Can we define "Robbery" on these boards? It was a close fight, opinion was divided on social media, Hearn had Chisora winning by a round, Parker said he wouldn't have complained if it went the other way. "Robbery" makes it sound like Chisora won 9-3 clearly and got stiffed, it just wasn't the case, it's not the reality.
It wasn't a robbery, by the end I thought Chisora let it slip. Parker didn't help himself when he had a clearly badly hurt Chisora on the ropes for the taking and he ended up relenting instead of putting him down, which would've made the victory clearer, but he won it despite that anyway. I thought it was 114-113 to Parker, I guess Chisora could've gotten 114-113 but he gassed too early. Took the first four and maybe the twelfth but he screwed up in most of the mid rounds.
Actually that's a great point. Yeah that was outrageous OK I am probably wrong here because that was a robbery on that card 9-3 (with the knockdown) is 116-111, so errrr yeah, disgraceful card, ROBBERY Actually didn't that judge throw in another shocking card in? So OK, let me say, APART from that card, I don't see a problem with the result, the other two cards were fine, there was a wonky judge and I admit that was shocking.
I had Parker winning 7 rounds, for a 114-113 win. The 116-111 card for Parker seems bad, yes. That gives him 9 rounds to 3. That's too wide. I'd happily watch a rematch. It was no robbery but there was certainly room to swing it either way. A draw would have been fair, of course.
Agreed So, Yeah I agree with Mr SH above, he explains it far better than I did. I didn't see the result as a robbery, but that 116-111 card was like I was ringside, Stella in one hand, mobile phone in the other and scoring the fight. And you all know my scorecards are the scorecards of a drunk moron, they are simply WILD.
Honestly, I struggle to get my head round why professional judges turn in such wide cards in relatively close-competitive fights. Of course they should call it as they see it, and people have off days, but surely he would have been better off turning in a 115-112. 116-111 is like he just decided to give every swing round to Parker. It's hardly going to go down well with the natives.
Yeah some cards are just simply unexplainable. There is an argument and I have to admit it's happened to me a few times. Watching a fight ringside is completely different, judges don't have the view we have on TV. The one that sticks out in my mind was a little card from Goresbrook Leisure Centre, Nicky Cook was on it fighting for the European, Commonwealth and British titles against Dazzo Williams and also West Ham's Michael Lomax. It was on Sky Sports. But It was Ian Napa Vs Marc Callaghan, Callaghan was a local boy, from just up the road so this place was packed out with his fans, I was ringside, actually with my wife. Anyway, the crowd are going crazy every time Callaghan threw a shot, I had Callaghan winning by a round or two over the 10 rounds, it was a close fight, I think he was given it by a point by the referee. I get home, get a phone call from a friend asking how it went and all that, he said "wow, that Napa result was a shocker wasn't it" I said "what do you mean, I thought Callaghan was the right winner" but he adamant, he said "no way, Napa won that 8-2 easily" So I had recorded it, yeah that's right, I am vain and wanted to see myself on Sky Sports again, so I stuck it straight on, wife wasn't impressed but I sat through it. And from the TV view Napa won with EASE, EASE, wasn't close in my opinion but when I was sitting ringside, one view, one angle, the crowd going crazy, I would have given it to Callaghan no problem. So when I go in on judges, I do remember that fight, I have been to other that have been similar but that one really looked different afterwards, really different, it was a completely fight, so I do have sympathy with judges but sometimes results are clear, very clear yet they still manage to get it so wrong.
I thought Chisora took the 12th quite convincingly. He kept the fight coming, landing hurtful body shots, scoring a KD. He should have gotten the benefit of doubt. I am watching boxing since 30 years, I have seen this time and time again. Just going with the new face. It is also hard to get credit for body shots.
Close fight but no robbery. I had it even after 11 & the last could have been scored any which way. So all results were reasonable. Decent win for Parker on the road I thought given there was always a fair chance he would lose.
