An absolute war. Tua would go inside and if he it did, Jack would meet him punch for punch, and was still faster, taller with 3 inch reach advantage and slightly better foundamentally . No matter how many thunderous blows each great landed, neither chin would fail. Dempsey wins this by UD , he is just a slightly better fighter in everything.
Tua is just too heavy and has too much power and a good chin to lose to Dempsey, who was a small cruiserweight at best by modern standards. I like the old time guys but let’s be honest and stop picking 180/190 guys to beat modern trained 240+ guys
We pick modern trained 240+ guys over 180/190 guys, but not overrated hypejob 240+ with a bad haircut.
60-40 in favour of Dempsey Tua's left could end it but i favour Dempsey to win a decision. Tua's best weight was 220ish and Dempsey around 190. So Tua does have an advantage. My guess is Dempsey lands fast combinations early and disuades Tua from marching forward. However, if Tua does catch him, he could do some serious damage and possibly even get a tko. Dempsey UD
This would be like an agile and fierce leopard vs an imposing gorilla. Dempsey split decision. A more complete fighter with good speed of foot and hand, great combination and body puncher, can counter and has killer instinct. Tua brings a cinder block chin, high work rate, and a little more 1 punch power. However, he could be a 1 armed bandit at times looking to land one big hook and could get discouraged and go in into his shell when badly hurt or outboxed. Therefore, I think both men would exchange furiously and Dempsey may have to get off the floor to take a close decision in a heated war. Dempsey's speed, head movement, and savage assault from odd angles gives him a slight lead on points. I wouldn't rule out Tua getting dropped either.
Dempsey should outbox him, he was faster and more skilled boxer. The problem could start if Dempsey tried to stop Tua and charge on him like he did on Firpo. This version of Jack could end up losing against durable power puncher like David.
I would favor Dempsey in this one. All around better boxer, better defense, faster, and can crack just as hard. Dempsey by a bloody UD.
Tua was one of the few guys of modern times who had an excellant chin but his heart may have alittle limited as he didn't open up as he should have... Dempsey tried harder against dangerous opponents which spells disaster for tua.... Many of the toughest men who ever lived were awed by Dempsey , and went on record saying so
