    Riddick Bowe vs Buddy Baer

    Height: 6'5 vs 6'6
    Reach: 81 vs 84

Are you sure you're looking at right Baer? Buddy was bigger than Bowe, by clear margin. Max was smaller than both, though he did have as long reach as Bowe.

I don’t take much notice of the measurements. Buddy was taller than Max but if you look at photos of the brothers together the difference between them is like the klitschko boys. Two big guys, with one a bit taller.
Outside of the Carnera fight, Max himself was always the biggest guy in the ring. It wouldn’t surprise me If he wasn’t much different to Bowe.

    Wasn't Baer 6'6, 245-250lb ? Bowe was usually around 6'5, 235-240lb

Max was smaller man in one fourth of his fights. He was big, but not that big and he consistently faced bigger men.

I would like to see just one photo of Max with anyone but Carnera who made Him look the smaller man. Max was as wide as a door and Taller than average.

    he has a Superheavyweight frame.

I forget what a "Super Heavyweight" is supposed to be exactly, size and weight wise, the accepted parameters, but I'd expect Holmes to beat all of them.

He'd spank Lewis and Wlad and Vitali and the rest. He'd school the gigantic Valuev.
I'm not sure about Fury yet, he's a strange one, very unpredictable and very tall and rangey. He might be a nightmare for Holmes.

I don't think you need any photos to believe that he was smaller than Jose Santa, Hank Hankinson, Arthur De Kuh, Walter Cobb or Bearcat Wright.

Admittedly Jose Santa, like Carnera, was bigger because he was a real circus giant.

but the others, Cobb, Wright, DeKuh and Hankinson were no bigger. Just heavier. I’d like to see photos of Max in these fights.

photos of better known fighters all appear smaller than Max in film and photo....apart from Carnera.

Joe Louis, Schmeling, Braddock, Galento, Comiskey, king Levensky, Ben Foord, Tommy Farr, Lou Nova. All made to look small beside Max.

They were taller (outside of Wright) AND heavier...
Sure, because they were all smaller than him... It doesn't mean that Baer didn't face bigger guys. Baer fought over 80 times in his career, we have what - 10 of them on the tape?

They might have been listed taller but without photos we can’t say. Max was a big framed guy. But your right Tony Galento was heavier.

Max Baer was equipped to beat any size man because, whilst smaller than actual giants, he was a big guy himself.

As I watched this the first time I thought Larry was in fact very clinical. But I wasn´t aware of how cumbersome Jones was until this thread. Most noticable when Jones trying to pressure Homes with a row of shots while the agile master moved away from him.

Looks like similarities of how Tua showed up against Lewis, but even worse. Jones came in 14 1/2 heavier than his bout before, and I´d say he looked at least 20/25lb of excess fat, including flabby tits and his belly trying to leave his pants. In there with a mover who is constantly on his toes, thats pretty terrible.

On the HW vs SHW debate: Larry was a trimmed 215 with 81" of reach and lots of speed. Why shouldn´t he be able to box with someone making the SHW def. of 6'4" - 6'5" and 225/230? With a speed adv. as well.
