not at all I am not pro either guy but Tua doesnt have the skillset to deal with Dempsey, especially once Dempsey rips Tua apart in the clinch.
Among the obvious observations, i.e. that Tua was stronger and quicker and hit with more power, Tua was a better, more disciplined boxer.
there are techniques that Tua got away with on his competition that he would not get away with against Jack.
If you look at each of their skillsets you will See Demspey has more tools to deal withTua than vice versa!
How could Tua even dream of doing as good as a 37 year old, injured fighter who hadn't even fought in years (and wasn't even that good at his peak)?
David Tua = modern skilled 220 pound heavyweight. Dempsey = crudely skilled 190 pound cruiser weight. David Tua by brutal first round knockout. I know what these clueless old boxing fans will say. But Dempsey beat Willard and Willard was a big guy. That is like saying because a 160 pound MMA fighter back in the 1990s beat a 300 pound fat guy it means size doesn't matter. MMA back then was in it's baby stages. These guys weren't world class fighters. When Dempsey beat Willard boxing was in its baby stages. These guys weren't world class fighters. Being big doesn't make you are world class fighter. In any case Dempsey wasn't a world class fighter by modern standards and I would pick most middleweights to beat him. Tua would knock Dempsey to the shadow realm in less than 30 seconds.
Tua is a boxer who likes to use a high guard he will let you throw then after you are done he swings back! you can not do that in Dempseys Era or against Dempsey ..you high guard that right hand to the body , guess what Dempsey is in the clinch now smashing your ribs . You block dempseys hook to the head uh oh too late you are in the clinch. Throw a jab? ,Dempsey inside slips it and guess what your infighting with Dempsey. You throw a leaping lead hook on dempsey and it doesnt land ,you are gonna get tied up. To jab Dempsey isnt that easy either he comes in low under the height you wanna jab. I do not see any thing in Tuas Toolbox that would worry Dempsey!
The level of delusion required to believe a runt like Dempsey could handle a full man like Tua is off any measurable scale.
Any time I ask what are these skills modern boxers have ,it always boils down to the use of a high guard(lazy static defense that does not take skill) and or how they throw punches(form) The level of skills Dempsey has compared to Tua is laughable ,Dempsey has him beat in the skills department by a country mile.
Dempsey by Unanimous Decision is what I would expect to see. Dempsey could do more than just brawl in there. He had other skills.
Tua is slightly overrated ... He could be outboxed and forced into fighting a defensive cover up fight But I'm not sure if Dempsey can win here ... Tua is a tank of a man with a great chin ... Dempsey might take the L here ...
