I see World Level in Boxing as someone who either wins or can be competitive in World Title fights against decent opposition (not your Murata and Brant types). I don't think Jnr is there yet and the level of inactivity and lack of urgency to fight the best leads me to believe that he'll never get there. Martin Murray was there for a bit, he held his own in World Title fights, robbed at times and after losing one he went for it again. Jnr had a taste over three years ago and he's not been near a World Title fight since.

Do you not think the talent is there, though? It seems obvious to me. He's also got ridiculously high levels of charisma. He's got the look. He's got the whole lot to be a huge boxing star. He just needs to get the bouts he deserves. I haven't put a bet on in years but I'd be happy to put a fair bit on him stopping Golovkin. He's vicious and spiteful and would rise to the occasion.

He was even talking to his friends during the last bout, where he wanted to get the rounds in. I thought that was pure entertainment and better than the main event. He's spiteful and nasty. It was a slow-cooked torturing. I felt bad for the other guy. It was like a cat toying with a mouse. Horrible to watch, but hard to look away. He had me on the edge of my seat. I reckon I'm not alone in those feelings.

I can't see it happening, he's got the name, the look, he can talk a bit although he got rinsed in the chat with Saunders and Groves. He's displayed pretty brutal power in the past but it's the lack of urgency from him, he should be seriously chasing the big fights and just going for it. I don't think he's hungry enough. As for Golovkin, I honestly think he'd look stupid against that jab, he'd get caught time and time again and Golovkin has a granite chin, it's as good as any I've seen in my lifetime. I understand the reasons for your optimism and if I was a Jnr fan I could get onboard a bit I think but after Groves I just lost all interest in him, that was his real chance, coming into his prime years, fighting for a World Title against a guy who was beatable.

I agree. Although I don't think Eubank Jr is as much powerful as he is quick. But he's spiteful. Malicious.

I can't stand him. It would be quite funny to see him get laid out, but it's hard for me to see who would be able to do it. Not a basic plodder like Golovkin who is on his last legs. He's another one I'd love to see sparked.

It’s a big ask to stop GGG. GGG is rarely in trouble, has taken massive bombs from big punchers without so much blinking. I just don’t feel like going for the KO is the strategy, but I’m not sure what else young Chris (who isnt actually that young) could do against him. He couldn’t box and move for 12, he would have to put the pressure on and hope he doesn’t get ironed out.

I’m think Canelo by late stoppage. Saunders has a good chin, but I have doubts over his stamina and think that Canelo gets to him late. Probably to the body. Routing for Saunders though. Really looking forward to this now after the bit of needle this week.

At the end of the day it’s pure opinions. But I remember the OTT threads on Fury after his first comeback fights when the overwhelming majority on here wrote him off. I wasn’t one of them.

I’ve seen a lot of Canelo fights and he has struggled against movers and southpaws (Lara) before. Sure Canelo has improved but he has not boxed anyone like Saunders above MW before. Yildirim, Smith and Fielding were tailor made for him, standing still. Bill’s not going to stand there in front of him. Also don’t forget that a well past his prime Kovalev was outboxing Canelo quite comfortably before running out of gas.

At the end of the day if Bill is blasted out early it will be a complete disappointment and will prove that he’s not as good as I and some others here think he is. But I’m confident that I’ve seen enough of Saunders to suggest he will outbox Canelo in stages of the fight at the very least.

Could say the same for Billy.

His preparation for this hasn't included a legit world level fighter in years, he's got zero power, has a questionable gas tank, done more talking than competing, hasn't lived the life, wants the biggest ring in boxing history... he's done nothing to genuinely show that this is the level he's at.

At least Canelo has been active against top guys like GGG, Jacobs etc. Billy hasn't fought someone on GGG's level ever, or Jacobs level since the Lee win. 13 years as a pro and your best performance is against a slugger like Lemmy? He's way out of his depth. But for some reason there's a hard-on for pikeys on this sub...

Andy Lee gave an interview earlier this week where he made it clear that Saunders hits harder than people think. In any event power from Saunders is not going to be a key to winning this fight. Just last week we saw a feather fist in Sunny Edwards box the **** out of his opponent whilst barely touching him up.

Saunders is in career best shape. He’s never boxed anyone near the level of Canelo but Canelo has also never boxed anyone like Saunders above 160.

You can also look back at Canelo’s recent history and reasonably conclude that he’s only boxed two world level boxers in the last two years in Jacobs and Smith. And they are nothing like Saunders. Kovalev as I said was evidently past his best at the time Canelo had him. Saunders would boxed the **** out of Yildirim and Fielding.

Saunders is not going to just stand in front of Canelo and allow him to tee off on the body. He’s going to move non stop and pepper Canelo with jabs from the outside. Inevitably at some stage Saunders will tire a little and Canelo will start timing him and that’s where durability will come into play.

This is a far, far more competitive match up stylistically than Smith. Too many people are dismissing Saunders chances here in a similar vein to dismissing Fury’s chances in the first fight with Wilder (and Klitschko).

Still, it's two more boxers than Billy has faced. I mean, who has he faced north of 160 that was even decent?

And for as good as Bill looks, he ALWAYS has stamina issues. Coming in looking shredded WILL NOT help that problem.

The jab isn't a problem like GGG's was.

I see Canelo showing him ZERO respect on there and it being a systematic breakdown of Billy. The accumulation will catch up to him.

You've got it wrong. Too many people are seeing what one traveller did abroad, and are thinking this is the sequel. It's a cash-out on Bill’s behalf.
