Did anyone watch Smith-Kurbanov? Haven't watched it in its entirety yet but what a good dust up so far. I think the Tool train would be derailed by either of these two. Smith is possessed, just keeps coming and is solid technically. And the russian Yeti was giving as good as he got. Certainly not the best eastern european around but he has got that schooling and looks good physically. Just needs a wax. I know I have been ye of little faith when it comes to Timbo Slice. He out does my expectations everytime he has stepped in the ring recently. I think Zerafa will answer a few more questions about how he deals with a bigger, durable guy who will keep coming. How he physically and mentally copes with that.
I watched the first few rounds & will watch the rest later. They're both good solid pros without being anything special. I think the Tool Train might be a bit special. Emphasis on 'might'. I think he's faster & hits harder than both of them. I think he beats both of them out here but obviously fighting overseas is a different kettle of fish. I think it's a stretch to believe Timmy would beat them in their own backyards. In saying that, one of his goals is to fight in Red Square. Kurbanov could be his Huckleberry. I think Junior should be looking to face both of these guys as his next two fights after Michael Zerafa. Forget about Charlo & Castano until he gets some experience against good solid international opposition - which both of those two guys are.
so horn gets blasted bigtime for his words towards zerafa like he's on par with pedophiles or something, yet michael spits out garbage like a goose and it's complete silence on here. some people wouldn't be hypocrites on here would they? lol.
* Justis Huni Wed 26 May fight will be held at Fox Studio Sydney with 36 invited attendence. There will be one other fight TBA. This is a first and if successful it could be regular in COVID 19 times to keep expense's down. * Dennis Hogan hoping to have one more fight in Aust before heading home to face Spike O ' Sullivan. Names mentioned Ben Kite and Ben Mahoney. Ben Kite name also mentioned as Zappavigna next fight.
Only two fights on the show isn't much. I think Huni v Tsoye has the potential to be very interesting notwithstanding Tsoye's modest professional record. He badly hurt Joe Goodall twice in a six-round draw so I will be an interested observer in what will effectively be Huni's first real test after some issues earlier in the year. Hopefully the other fight is decent. Memo Dean Lonergan - I haven't received my invite yet.
Erm, how the hell did Opetaia become the highest ranked cruiser by the IBF?? Especially considering he almost exclusively has fought kiwis and fellow Aussies, none of them even sniffing a world top fifty?
Years gone by Australians were always favourably ranked by the IBF because of Uncle Ray Wheatley. He no longer serves on the board of directors but Ben Keilty, who is Australian, I believe wields some influence on the ratings committee. Cruiserweight is definitely one of those divisions where you can retain a ranking pretty easily by just existing. Probably not enough dedicated fighters at the weight. To be fair on Jai he was lined up to face top 10 ranked Bilal Laggoune on at least 2 occasions only the be dicked around. Based on Laggoune's recent loss to the very average Tommy McCarthey I would have to say Jai would have defeated him pretty easily. Bam Bam had been recently world rated by other organisations and Kelleher was rated in one of the IBF/USBA's 2nd tier lists at the time Jai fought him. Which must count for something I guess. Really he has only being doing enough to maintain his ranking not rise so high. That doesn't reflect well on the organisation.
Gallen is not happy with the promotional poster for his fight with Huni. I can't say I blame him it is disrespectful. Gallen is another fighter to confirm that Lonergan is a POS and hard to deal with I would love for somebody to KO the fat grub one day.
I'd do it, but I'm several thousand miles away and If I ever saw the guy I'd probably mistake him for Ricky Hatton.
