Bivol had been out of the ring for more than a year when he fought Richards, who has a much different style and different dimensions to Canelo. And maybe Beterbiev did beat up Bivol, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he'd have a better chance at beating Canelo than Bivol would. Bivol is a mover and as we saw tonight Canelo still can't quite clearly outclass good movers.

Canelo is a one dimension, front foot explosive counter puncher.

A slickster would give him all sort of troubles. Maybe Bivol is that man.

The problem with Bivol is he has this master fencer style where he loves distance and focuses on single shots. That isn't a problem per se, but that means he would make a fight with Alvarez a sort of points scoring contest. I don't think he throws enough, or hard enough, or goes to the body well enough, to really separate himself enough to earn a decision, even if his work was higher quality.

The Beterbiev that defeated Gvozdyk would be too much for Canelo, but the man is now 36 and hasn't been active. It's hard to predict what he would be if he finally got Alvarez.

What Canelo is doing is honestly ridiculous. If you told me this guy would be beating light heavyweights 6 yrs ago I’d have laughed in your f’n face.

I think Bivol beats Canelo too (with fair scorecards!) - definitely @175 and probably at 168 too. Bivol doesn't really look that big at 175 IMO.

Billy Joe would have beaten him if his eye didn't go.. So unfortunate.. Canelo is very beatable

I'm laughing in your face.. He beat Kovalev in an obviously fixed fight.. That's his only win a light heavy.. A sparring session... *slow clap*

LOTS of ring rust there, and Bivol was on cruise control most of the fight, getting rounds under his belt, not sure how much I'd read into that bout tbh.

He totally would’ve beaten him down 4 rounds on 2 of the cards. Totally. High intellect here.

The best part of watching Canelo win is the post-fight foaming at the mouth of incredulous whinny lil bitches.

LMAO did you see Joe Smiths last fight? Hes getting butchered. Prime Gvozdyk and maybe Bivol and Ward were the only fighters below cruiser that had a shot at beating Beterbiev in the past decade.

Bivol would probably be favoured over Canelo at 168 or 175.

I think he could beat Beterbiev, but Bivol would smash him. Really really bad.

Spence or Crawford versus Canelo will be interesting.
