No he was not schooling Canelo, he held his own until Canelo finally landed the shot he’d been looking for all fight. BJS can’t KO Canelo and he won’t get a decision against him and a rematch would probably play out the same way as we just saw.
A rematch wouldn't accomplish anything positive: if Saunders has broken his orbital bone and has it surgically repaired, it would only result in Canelo relentlessly targeting it in said rematch.
He's gotta earn it. Plant, Andrade, Benavidez, Charlo, and Bivol are all good matchups with Canelo. A couple others like Morrell and Berlanga are in the pipeline. If he takes out a few of them before Canelo gets there then sure, I would enjoy a rematch.
Rematch makes no sense, and I doubt BJS would do any better. He was losing and then got shattered; he will never be the same.
Why? He was doing alright early, but he was starting to slow down-then he started getting caught and it was all over from there. Canelo was just better than him.
He could barely hit Saunders all night what makes you think Canelo would land it again? Billy was up 5-2 going into the 8th..winning rds 1,4,5,6,7..he got very unfortunate with that eye damage after the seventh I was convinced Billy was going to win
Set the shot up perfectly. Got Saunders to commit and miss, and then countered with pinpoint accuracy. He knows what trap to set to draw the mistake and land that right uppercut to the compromised area, and so, in the unlikely scenario the rematch takes place, I would expect Canelo to target the surgically repaired area and dispatch Saunders quicker and far more emphatically. And if you were convinced that Saunders was going to win after the seventh round with the way the judge's scorecards were turning out -- in a Canelo fight in Texas on Cinco de Mayo weekend -- then I really don't know what more to tell you.
