The fight was even imo but canelo punches had more lasting effect

He really didn't though he wasn't showing any signs of gassing he was actually looking very good and outboxing Canelo rounds 5-7 and before the one shot Canelo landed clean that ****ed his eye. I think Billy Joe knew that'd be an uphill struggle having only eye to fight Canelo

I agree on rounds 5-7, but rounds 1 and 4 were terribly close.

They say body shots pay dividends and Canelo landed to the body significantly early in the fight. BJS went for broke letting his hands go for a couple of rounds but eventually he got caught with something big. He never really had a chance.

Didn't show any signs of gassing just... not wanting to be there after a tough round. It's understandable though. He's never been in with a world class Super Middleweight before

Yeah man, Saunders deserves a lot of credit for that performance... You have to fight the perfect fight to beat Canelo and he damn near did until R8. I didn't see Canelo land much of anything flush after R3, whereas BJS was landing clean in most of the exchanges... I think people were giving Canelo credit for the hard body shots that BJS blunted with his movement and defended with his elbows. Those compubox stats are ****ing obscene.

But Canelo deserves all the credit for keeping his composure and timing that uppercut so that Saunders ducked right into it... Canelo showing his level right there in stopping the guy who's having a career night on his worst night in recent memory. That's more impressive than bell-to-bell domination in a lot of ways and that's why he's #1 p4p. Fair play to both fighters... I don't think Plant will get stopped, but I don't think he'll top BJS' performance, either.

I had it even after 8. BJS was dancing and scoring but canelo came back big in the 8th. I think it was just a matter of time, eye or not

Saunders was doing very well and definitely took 4/5 rounds on the cards. Wasn't really hurting canelo but was boxing well and to his credit not often you see canelo miss that much. But at the end of the day it doesn't matter what the cards said he got tagged with an perfectly timed uppercut, he actually started throwing that before BJ's started to duck. Thought earlier in the fight he was going to land that one came close a few times. Score cards mean jack once you're beaten tho so give that up

Disagree. He didn’t throw enough during rounds 2-4. I had Canelo up 5-3, Saunders was missing a lot and didn’t land anything meaningful. Also, Canelo was trying to land that uppercut all night.

Saunders would have won and been robbed if it weren't for the eye injury. He was looking fantastic rounds 5 to 7..how anyone can give those rounds to Canelo is truly baffling. So disappointing but given it was his lead eye, he would have struggled to see Canelos left hook/jab

I had Canelo up 5-3 after eight. You could have had it 4-4 or 5-3 BJS, but that's as far as you can plausibly go. And it doesn't matter if you win some rounds when the other guy is going for a KO and gets the KO.

I thought if it continued it wouldn't have been a robbery either way. Canelo was coming on on the 8th and if had went the distance it would have gotten closer. After seeing the offical scorecards i have to agree it was never going Saunders way. I say this as a canelo fan
