    In other words, Billy Joe wasn't exactly pleading to stay in there. It is what it is.

    It's one thing to arrive at a point where he decides he's done all he can and has had enough. Everybody can't be Margarito. But to not even give yourself a chance to abide on the defining night of your whole career...

    I guess these are less stoic times and we all have varying mileage on the matter compared to as little as fifteen years ago, but the boxing culture I fell for was pretty non-permissive about summarily checking out when the going got tough.

    His ****ing trainer just said he made the call and pulled him out of the fight. His lead eye was shot, he would have essentially been a blind man and a sitting target in there against one of the biggest punchers in the sport. If you were his trainer you'd make the same call. Knock it off with the quitter bull****.

    There were probably 2 rounds that could've gone either way. I gave Canelo 4 rounds cleanly and Billy definitely won 5 and 6.

    No, most people said Canelo would dominate and violently KO Billy Joe, and a handful said Canelo would be outboxed by Billy Joe. It ended up being Saunders making Canelo look average, outboxing him in a competitive fight, and getting tagged with a shot that caused a freak injury that prompted his corner to pull him out.
